A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 71-60-41-220-050-A
A. Detailed Inspection of the Air Intake Cowl, "A1" Flange Attachment
   (1) Clean the inspection area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) to remove unwanted debris, dirt and grease.
   (2) Do a detailed inspection of the intake cowl attachment ring (9).
     (a) Use a LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and a MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X.
       1 Examine the attachment ring (9) for corrosion, nicks, gouges, holes, scratches, missing or loose fasteners and other damage.
         a If you find corrosion damage, repair or replace the damaged component parts SRM 512200.
         b If you find other damage, look for damage limits and corrective action SRM 541000.
       2 Examine the bolts (1), washers (2) and nuts (4) that attach the intake cowl (8) assembly to the engine fan case (3).
         a Look for damage or missing parts.
         b If you find damage or missing parts, replace the parts (Ref. AMM TASK 71-61-41-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-61-41-400-802).
         c Examine the alignment pins (5), washers (6) and nuts (7).
         d If you find damage, replace the parts (Ref. AMM TASK 71-61-41-000-802) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-61-41-400-802).
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
