WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 71-51-43-941-098-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803).
4. Procedure
Subtask 71-51-43-420-091-A
A. Installation of the HJ9B Engine Wiring Harness (1)
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: USE PLIERS THAT HAVE TEFLON JAWS TO TIGHTEN OR LOOSEN THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DO NOT USE PLIERS THAT HAVE METAL JAWS. METAL JAWS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS.
   (1) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and the CAP - PROTECTION from all open ports and disconnected connectors.
CAUTION: DO NOT BEND OR TWIST THE HARNESS TOO MUCH. IF YOU DO, DAMAGE TO THE HARNESS CAN OCCUR.
   (2) Engage the HJ9B Engine Wiring Harness (1) to put it in position on the engine. Do not turn or pull the HJ9B Engine Wiring Harness (1).
   (3) Connect the HJ9B Engine Wiring Harness (1) to the Engine Electronic Calculator (EEC) Chanel B J9 connector (2).
   (4) Install the clamp (5) on the HJ9B Engine Wiring Harness (1).
   (5) Attach the clamp (5) and the self-locking nut (10) to the bracket (4) with the bolt (3) and tighten by hand.
   (6) Make sure that the HJ9B Engine Wiring Harness (1) is not twisted.
   (7) Attach the HJ9B Engine Wiring Harness (1) to the clip (6).
   (8) Remove the security cap (7) from the connector of the HJ9B Engine Wiring Harness (1).
   (9) Attach the HJ9B Engine Wiring Harness connector socket (1) to the bracket assy (9) with the two bolts (8) and tighten by hand.
   (10) TORQUE the bolt (3) and the two bolts (8) to between 46.2 and 41.8 lbf.in (0.52 and 0.47 m.daN ) T without any additional lubricant.
   (11) Install the security cap (7) on the HJ9B Engine Wiring Harness connector (1).
