3. Job Set-up
Subtask 71-51-43-941-096-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for nacelle maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807).
4. Procedure
Subtask 71-51-43-420-089-A
A. Installation of the Thrust Reverser Harnesses - Right Upper Actuator Channel A and Channel B Harnesses
   (1) Remove COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION from openings, tubes, hoses, and the electrical connectors.
   (2) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (23), (24), and (30) with LUBRICATING OIL TURBINE ENGINE SYNT BASE (Material No.CPNCL00062) .
   (3) Install the channel A harness (7) as follows:
     (a) Install the p-clamp (25) on the harness (7).
     (b) Connect the electrical connector (8) to the proximity sensor (10) on the right upper actuator (11) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
     (c) Connect the electrical connector (6) to the Linear Variable Differential Transducer (LVDT) (5) on the right upper actuator (11) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
     (d) Connect the electrical connector (17) to the receptacle on the interface bracket (15) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
     (e) Attach the p-clamp (25) to the support bracket (21) with the bolt (24).
     (f) Put the harness (7) in the spring clip (26) of the support bracket (2).
     (g) Adjust the tension in the harness (7) and make sure the harness does not touch adjacent components.
   (4) Install the channel B harness (4) as follows:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THERE IS CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS AND THE FORWARD FRAME PARTS OR DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
     (a) Install the p-clamp (22) on the harness (4).
     (b) Connect the electrical connector (3) to the proximity sensor (1) on the right upper actuator (11) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
     (c) Connect the electrical connector (16) to the interface bracket (15) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
     (d) Attach the p-clamp (22) to the support bracket (21) with the bolt (23).
     (e) Adjust the tension in the harness (4) and make sure the harness does not touch adjacent components.
   (5) Complete the installation of the channel A harness (7) and the channel B harness (4) as follows:
     (a) Open the right thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806).
     (b) If the block clamp (29) on the support bracket (28) is closed, remove the bolt (30) to open the block clamp.
     (c) Put the two harnesses (7) and (4) in position in the block clamp (29). The channel A harness goes in the forward opening in the block clamp. The channel B harness goes in the aft opening.
     (d) Close the block clamp (29) and install the bolt (30).
     (e) Adjust the tension in the two harnesses (7) and (4). Make sure that no harness touches adjacent components.
     (f) TORQUE the bolt (30) to between 0.43 and 0.36 m.daN (38.05 and 31.86 lbf.in ) T.
     (g) Close the right thrust reverser cowl-doors (
Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-806).
     (h) TORQUE the bolts (23) and (24) to between 0.43 and 0.36 m.daN (38.05 and 31.86 lbf.in ) T.

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

   (1) Do the thrust reverser cycling test (menu mode) (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-740-804).
