Installation of the Electrical Harness HJ2B for the Channel B Ignition System

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position under the right fan cowl door.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for nacelle maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807).

D. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

4. Procedure
Subtask 71-51-43-420-086-A
A. Installation of the Electrical Harness (2) for the Channel B Ignition System
   (1) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION from all open connectors and receptacles.
   (2) Lubricate the threads of the four bolts (41), two bolts (14), two bolts (11), bolt (4) and bolt (46) with LUBRICATING OIL TURBINE ENGINE SYNT BASE (Material No.CPNCL00062) .
   (3) Put the P-clamps (3) and (47) in position on the electrical harness (2).
     (a) Use the record made during the removal procedure to help get the correct location and position.
   (4) Put the electrical harness (2) in position on the engine.
     (a) Use the record made during the removal procedure to help get the correct routing.
   (5) Push the electrical harness (2) into the spring clips on the support brackets (7), (16), (17), (18), (22), (20), (25), (26), (28), (29), (44) and (45).
NOTE: In case of looseness at electrical harness to spring clip interfaces, you can use CPNCL00957GLASS FIBER TAPE (3M tape 361) to assure the retention of the electrical harness into the spring clip as follows:
  • Clean the electrical harness with a LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) made moist with GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) .
  • Dry the electrical harness with a LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) before the solvent becomes gas.
  • Roll up the electrical harness with CPNCL00957GLASS FIBER TAPE (3M tape 361) to assure a good retention into the spring clip.
   (6) Install the bolt (4) that attaches the P-clamp (3) to the support bracket (5).
   (7) TORQUE the bolt (4) to between 0.42 and 0.37 m.daN (37.2 and 32.7 lbf.in ) T.
   (8) Install the bolt (46) that attaches the P-clamp (47) to the support bracket (17).
   (9) TORQUE the bolt (46) to between 0.79 and 0.68 m.daN (69.91 and 60.18 lbf.in )
T.
   (10) Connect the electrical connectors on the electrical harness (2) that follow (
Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804):
  • Connect the electrical connector (1) to the receptacle on the Pylon Junction Box (PJB) (6).
  • Connect the electrical connector (21) to the receptacle on the channel B Electronic Engine Control (ECC) (23).
   (11) Connect the electrical connector (9) at the support bracket (16) as follow:
     (a) Install the two bolts (14) that attach the electrical connector (9) to the support bracket (16).
     (b) TORQUE the two bolts (14) to between 0.42 and 0.37 m.daN (37.2 and 32.7 lbf.in ) T.
     (c) Connect the electrical connector (15) to the electrical connector (9) on the aft side of the support bracket (16) (
Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
   (12) Connect the electrical connector (13) at the support bracket (12) as follow:
     (a) Install the two bolts (11) that attach the electrical connector (13) to the support bracket (12).
     (b) TORQUE the two bolts (11) to between 0.42 and 0.37 m.daN (37.2 and 32.7 lbf.in ) T.
     (c) Connect the electrical connector (10) to the electrical connector (13) on the forward side of the support bracket (12) (
Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
   (13) Remove the access platform from under the right fan cowl door.
   (14) Put the electrical harness (2) in the fireproof block (33).
   (15) Install the fireproof plate and fireproof block (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-07-400-801).
   (16) Push the electrical harness (2) into the spring clips on the support brackets (30), (34) and (38).
NOTE: In case of looseness at electrical harness to spring clip interfaces, you can use CPNCL00957GLASS FIBER TAPE (3M tape 361) to assure the retention of the electrical harness into the spring clip as follows:
  • Clean the electrical harness with a LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) made moist with GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) .
  • Dry the electrical harness with a LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) before the solvent becomes gas.
  • Roll up the electrical harness with CPNCL00957GLASS FIBER TAPE (3M tape 361) to assure a good retention into the spring clip.
   (17) Connect the electrical connector (39) to the ignition exciter (40) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
   (18) Install the four bolts (41) and the exciter shroud lid (42) on the exciter shroud (43) (Ref. AMM TASK 74-11-05-400-801).
   (19) TORQUE the four bolts (41) to between 0.67 and 0.58 m.daN (59.29 and 51.33 lbf.in ) T.
   (20) Adjust the tension in the electrical harness (2) along the routing.
NOTE: If required, it is permissible to tape the harnesses at clamping locations where the fit is too loose with CPNCL00957GLASS FIBER TAPE (3M tape 361).
     (a) Make sure the harness does not touch adjacent parts.
