A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position under the right fan cowl door.
4. Procedure
Subtask 71-51-43-020-087-A
A. Removal of the Right and the Left Electrical Harnesses from the Pylon to the Fan Fire Detector Elements
   (1) Before you remove the right (10) and left (17) harnesses make a record of the harness routing to help during installation.
   (2) At the pylon junction box (40), disconnect the electrical connectors that follow (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
  • Disconnect the electrical connector (39) on the right harness (10) from the receptacle on the pylon junction box.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector (39) on the left harness (17) from the receptacle on the pylon junction box.
   (3) Disconnect the part of the left harness (17) that extends across the top of the engine to the right side, as follow:
     (a) Remove the bolt (41) that attaches the P-clamp (42) to the support bracket (43).
     (b) Pull the left harness (17) out of the spring clip on the support bracket (35).
     (c) Push the upper end of the left harness (17) through the opening at the top of the engine.
   (4) Remove the right harness (10) from the right side of the engine as follow:
     (a) Remove the bolt (38) that attaches the P-clamp (36) to the support bracket (37).
     (b) Pull the right harness (10) out of the spring clips on support brackets (2), (3), (11), (9), (4), (5), (8), (6), (7), (12), (13), (18) and (14).
   (5) Disconnect the right harness (10) from the right 6 o'clock responder (45) as follow:
     (a) Remove the nuts (44) and (49) from the studs on the responder (45).
     (b) Lift the ring connectors on the right harness (10) off of the studs.
     (c) Remove the bolt (46) that attaches the ground ring connector to the support bracket (18).
     (d) Remove the bolt (47) that attaches the P-clamp on the right harness (10) to the support bracket (18).
   (6) On the left side of the engine, disconnect the right harness (10) from the lower left side responder (45) as follow:
     (a) Remove the nuts (44) and (49) from the studs on the responder (45).
     (b) Lift the ring connectors on the right harness (10) off of the studs.
     (c) Remove the bolt (46) that attaches the ground ring connector to the support bracket (15).
     (d) Remove the bolts (47) that attaches the P-clamp on the right harness (10) to the support bracket (15).
     (e) Pull the right harness (10) out of the spring clip on the support bracket (15).
   (7) Remove the right harness (10) from the engine.
   (8) Move the scissor lift to the left side of the engine.
   (9) Pull the upper end of the left harness (17) through the opening at the top of the engine to the left side.
   (10) Pull the left harness (17) out of the spring clips on the support brackets (28), (34), (33), (32), (29), (30), (31), (19), (20), (21), (22), (24), (27), (26), (25), (16) and (15).
   (11) Disconnect the left harness (17) from the upper left side responder (45) as follow:
     (a) Remove the nuts (44) and (49) from the studs on the responder (45).
     (b) Lift the ring connectors on the left harness (17) off of the studs.
     (c) Remove the bolt (46) that attaches the ground ring connector to the support bracket (18).
     (d) Remove the bolt (47) that attaches the P-clamp on the left harness (17) to the support bracket (18).
   (12) Disconnect the left harness (17) from the left 6 o'clock responder (45) as follow:
     (a) Remove the nuts (44) and (49) from the studs on the responder (45).
     (b) Lift the ring connectors on the right harness (10) off of the studs.
     (c) Remove the bolt (46) that attaches the ground ring connector to the support bracket (16).
     (d) Remove the bolt (47) that attaches the P-clamp on the right harness (10) to the support bracket (16).
   (13) Remove the left harness (17) from the engine.
   (14) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamp (36) and the two P-clamps (48) on the right (10) harness to help during installation.
   (15) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamp (42) and the two P-clamps (48) on the left (17) harness to help during installation.
   (16) Remove the P-clamps (36), (42) and (48) from the right (10) and left (17) harnesses.
   (17) Install COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all open ports, open tubes, open hoses, and connectors.
