BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 71-51-43-010-098-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
4. ProcedureWARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for nacelle maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807). Subtask 71-51-43-020-086-A
A. Removal of the HTRAS/CLP Harnesses - ICU Channel A And Channel B
(1) Before you remove the harnesses, make a record of the harness routing to help during installation.
(2) Remove the electrical connectors as follows: (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
(a) Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the fan cowl interface (2).
(b) Disconnect the electrical connector (15) from the Isolation Control Unit (ICU) (16).
(c) Disconnect the electrical connector (17) from the ICU (16).
(d) Disconnect the electrical connector (38) from the pylon junction box (42).
(e) Disconnect the electrical connector (41) from the pylon junction box (42).
(3) Remove the Channel A harness (3) as follows:
(a) Remove the bolt (12) that attaches the P-clamp (13) to the support bracket (4).
(b) Remove the bolt (11) that attaches the P-clamp (10) to the support bracket (5).
(c) Remove the bolt (8) that attaches the P-clamp (7) to the support bracket (6).
(d) Remove the bolt (24) that attaches the P-clamp (23) to the support bracket (22).
(e) Remove the bolts (26) and (30) that attaches the P-clamps (25) and (29) to the support bracket (19).
(f) Remove the bolt (27) that attaches the P-clamp (28) to the support bracket (31).
(g) Remove the harness (3) from the engine.
(h) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps on the harness (3) to help during installation.
(4) Remove the Channel B harness (18) as follows:
(a) Remove the bolt (21) that attaches the P-clamp (20) to the support bracket (22).
(b) Remove the bolt (35) that attaches the P-clamp (34) to the support bracket (32).
(c) Remove the harness (18) from the engine.
(d) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps on the harness (18) to help during installation.
(5) Install all the COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
(1) Before you remove the harnesses, make a record of the harness routing to help during installation.
(2) Remove the electrical connectors as follows: (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
(a) Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the fan cowl interface (2).
(b) Disconnect the electrical connector (15) from the Isolation Control Unit (ICU) (16).
(c) Disconnect the electrical connector (17) from the ICU (16).
(d) Disconnect the electrical connector (38) from the pylon junction box (42).
(e) Disconnect the electrical connector (41) from the pylon junction box (42).
(3) Remove the Channel A harness (3) as follows:
(a) Remove the bolt (12) that attaches the P-clamp (13) to the support bracket (4).
(b) Remove the bolt (11) that attaches the P-clamp (10) to the support bracket (5).
(c) Remove the bolt (8) that attaches the P-clamp (7) to the support bracket (6).
(d) Remove the bolt (24) that attaches the P-clamp (23) to the support bracket (22).
(e) Remove the bolts (26) and (30) that attaches the P-clamps (25) and (29) to the support bracket (19).
(f) Remove the bolt (27) that attaches the P-clamp (28) to the support bracket (31).
(g) Remove the harness (3) from the engine.
(h) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps on the harness (3) to help during installation.
(4) Remove the Channel B harness (18) as follows:
(a) Remove the bolt (21) that attaches the P-clamp (20) to the support bracket (22).
(b) Remove the bolt (35) that attaches the P-clamp (34) to the support bracket (32).
(c) Remove the harness (18) from the engine.
(d) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps on the harness (18) to help during installation.
(5) Install all the COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
