A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

WARNING: OPEN THE PROBE HEATER CIRCUIT-BREAKERS 1DA1(2), 3DA1(2,3), 4DA1(2,3) AND 5DA1(2,3) BEFORE ENG1(2)FADEC A and EIU 1(2) C/B'S 2KS1 AND 2KS2. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS SEQUENCE:
  • THE PROBES WILL BECOME TOO HOT.
  • THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT AND INJURY TO MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL.

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
437AL, 438AR
     (b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
447AL, 448AR.
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 71-51-43-020-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) (Channel A) Harness
NOTE: To open the flip-lock clamps and line blocks, turn the captive screws or captive bolts 1/4 turn counterclockwise to disengage the cam nuts.
NOTE: Loosely attach the clamp(s), anti-rotation lug(s) if applicable, and bolt(s) to the brackets from which they were removed to make it easier for installation.
   (1) Disconnect electrical connectors 402VC-A and 406VC-A from the pylon junction box.
   (2) Disconnect electrical connector 4004VC-A from the junction box at station 167 (B2).
   (3) Open the flip-lock clamp (10) that attaches the harness (5) to the bracket.

   (4) Open the line blocks (15), (20), and (25) that attach the harness (5) to the brackets at station 158 (B1).
   (5) If necessary, remove the rubber supports from the line blocks.
   (6) Remove the harness (5) from the rubber supports and the flip-lock clamp (10).

   (7) Open the line block (30) that attaches the harness (5) to the bracket at station 167 (B2).

   (8) Remove the bolt (55) that attaches the clamp (60) to the bracket at station 167 (B2). Remove the clamp (60) from the harness (5).

   (9) Open the line blocks (25), (40), (45) and (50) that attach the harness (5) to the brackets.
   (10) If necessary, remove the rubber supports from the line blocks.
   (11) Remove the harness (5) from the rubber supports.
   (12) Open the flip-lock clamp (35) near ignition exciter A and remove the harness (5).

   (13) Open the line block (25) that attaches the harness (5) to the bracket at station 158 (B1).
   (14) If necessary, remove the rubber supports from the line block.
   (15) Remove the bolts and clamps (17) that attach the harness (5) to the bracket at station 158 (B1).
   (16) Remove the bolts and clamps (22) that attach the harness (5) to the bracket at station 158 (B1).
   (17) Remove the harness (5) from the rubber supports, the flip-lock clamp (10) and the clamps (17) and (22).

CONFIG-1

   (18) Open the line block (30) that attaches the harness (5) to the bracket at station 167 (B2).

   (19) Remove the bolt (55) that attaches the clamp (60) to the bracket at station 167 (B2). Remove the clamp (60) from the harness (5).

   (20) Open the line blocks (25), (40), (45) and (50) that attach the harness (5) to the brackets.
   (21) If necessary, remove the rubber supports from the line blocks.
   (22) Remove the harness (5) from the rubber supports.
   (23) Remove the bolt, clamp and anti-rotation lug (37) near ignition exciter A and remove the harness (5).

   (24) Disconnect electrical connector 4000JH1-A from ignition exciter A.
   (25) Disconnect electrical connectors 4000KS-J1 and 4000KS-J3 from the ECU.
   (26) Remove the electrical harness (5) from the engine.
   (27) Put the COVER - PROTECTION on the electrical connectors.
