WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

WARNING: OPEN THE PROBE HEATER CIRCUIT-BREAKERS 1DA1(2), 3DA1(2,3), 4DA1(2,3) AND 5DA1(2,3) BEFORE ENG1(2)FADEC A and EIU 1(2) C/B'S 2KS1 AND 2KS2. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS SEQUENCE:
  • THE PROBES WILL BECOME TOO HOT.
  • THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT AND INJURY TO MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL.

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowls: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040)
   (2) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

   (3) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)

   (4) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 71-51-43-020-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the IDG Control and Anti-Ice Harness
NOTE: To open the flip-lock clamps and line blocks, turn the captive screws or captive bolts 1/4 turn counterclockwise to disengage the cam nuts.
NOTE: Loosely attach the clamp(s), anti-rotation lug(s) if applicable, and bolt(s) to the brackets from which they were removed to make it easier for installation.
   (1) Disconnect the electrical connectors 401VC-A, 404VC-A and 405VC-A from the pylon junction box.
   (2) Disconnect the electrical connector 4005VC-A from the connector on the left harness at station 174.

   (3) Open the flip-lock clamps (10), (20), (25) and (55) that attach the harness (5) to the engine brackets.
   (4) Open the line blocks (15), (30), and (35) attached to the brackets at station 158.

   (5) Open the line block (40) that attaches the harness (5) to the bracket at station 167.

   (6) Remove the bolt (45) that attaches the clamps (50) and (75) to the bracket at station 167.
   (7) Remove the clamp (50) from the harness (5). Loosely install the bolt (45) in the clamp (75).

END CONFIG-2

   (8) If necessary, remove the rubber supports from the line blocks and remove the harness (5) from the rubber supports.
   (9) Remove the harness (5) from the flip-lock clamps.
   (10) Cut the fiberglass tying tape from the ground wires, as necessary.
   (11) Remove the nuts (60), the lockwasher (65) and the washer (70) that attach the ground wires to the ground studs.

   (12) Disconnect the electrical connector 4000DN-A from the anti-ice valve.
   (13) Disconnect the electrical connector 4001VC-A from the interphone jack disconnect at the inlet cowl aft bulkhead.
   (14) Open the three line blocks (35) attached to the brackets at station 158.
   (15) Open the two flip top clamps (30) that attach the harness (5) to the brackets forward of the ECU at station 158.
   (16) If necessary, remove the rubber supports from the line blocks (35).
   (17) Remove the harness (5) from the rubber supports and the flip-lock clamps (30).

   (18) Open the flip-lock clamps (10) that attach the harness (5) to the engine brackets.
   (19) Remove the bolts and clamps (17) and (27), and the bolts, clamps and anti-rotation lugs (32) that attach the harness (5) to the engine brackets.
   (20) Remove the bolts and clamps (57), and the bolts, clamps and anti-rotation lugs (59) that attach the harness (5) to the engine brackets.
   (21) Remove the bolts and clamps (22) that attach the harness (5) to the engine bracket.
   (22) Open the line blocks (35) attached to the brackets at station 158.

CONFIG-1

   (23) Open the line block (40) that attaches the harness (5) to the bracket at station 167.

   (24) Remove the bolt (45) that attaches the clamps (50) and (75) to the bracket at station 167.
   (25) Remove the clamp (50) to the harness (5). Loosely install the bolt (45) in the clamp (75).

END CONFIG-1

   (26) If necessary, remove the rubber supports from the line block and remove the harness (5) from the rubber supports.
   (27) Remove the harness (5) from the flip-lock clamps.
   (28) Remove the nuts (60), the lockwasher (65) and the washer (70) that attach the ground wires to the ground studs.
   (29) Disconnect the electrical connector 4000DN-A from the anti-ice valve.
   (30) Disconnect the electrical connector 4000DN-A from the interphone jack disconnect at the inlet cowl aft bulkhead.
   (31) Open the three line blocks (35) attached to the brackets at station 158.
   (32) If neccessary, remove the rubber supports from the line blocks (35).
   (33) Remove the harness (5) from the rubber supports.

   (34) Disconnect the electrical connectors 4000XU-A, 4000XU-B and 4000XU-C from the integrated drive generator (IDG).
   (35) Remove the electrical harness (5) from the engine.
   (36) Put COVER - PROTECTION on the electrical connectors.
