Installation of the Fan Cowl Hold Open Rods (HORs) Engine Brackets
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU USE THE FAN COWL DOOR SLING TO HOLD EACH FAN COWL IN THE OPEN POSITION. IF THE SLING IS NOT USED, THE COWL WILL NOT BE HELD CORRECTLY AND CAN CLOSE QUICKLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE COWL.
CAUTION:
DO NOT EXTEND THE SLATS WHEN THE FAN COWLS AND THE THRUST REVERSER COWLS ARE OPEN. IF YOU DO THIS, DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT CAN OCCUR.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 71-40-41-010-059-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

B. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the filler plugs (38) from the lower hoist points of the fan cowl door are removed. Keep the plugs for the installation.
(2) Make sure that the filler plugs (38) from the upper hoist points of the fan cowl door are removed. Keep the plugs for the installation.
(3) Make sure that the sling fan cowl (22) is in position on the fan cowl door.

(6) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the filler plugs (38) from the lower hoist points of the fan cowl door are removed. Keep the plugs for the installation.
(2) Make sure that the filler plugs (38) from the upper hoist points of the fan cowl door are removed. Keep the plugs for the installation.
(3) Make sure that the sling fan cowl (22) is in position on the fan cowl door.
NOTE: The sling fan cowl (22) is part of the 98N7110H001-000 FAN COWL HOISTING DEVICE.
(4) Make sure that the pad universal attach (37) is installed on the hoist points of fan cowl door with the pad universal attach screw (23). NOTE: The pad universal attach (37) and (23) are parts of the 98N7110H001-000 FAN COWL HOISTING DEVICE.
(5) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803): (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

PRE SPOL BD-EBU-17002 AND POST SPOL BD-EBU-17018
(1) Installation of the Right Hand (RH) forward bracket (17) and bridge fitting (12).
(a) Make sure that the SLING - LIFT is connected to the RH fan-cowl-door hoist point and that, the SLING - LIFT supports the fan-cowl-door weight.
(b) Lubricate the threads of bolts (11), bolts (10) and bolts (14) with LUBRICATING OIL TURBINE ENGINE SYNT BASE (Material No.CPNCL00062) .
(c) Install the bridge fitting (12) to the engine with three bolts (10), three washers (40), three washers (42) and three nuts (15).
(d) Install the bridge fitting (12) to the bracket (16) with two bolts (14), two washers (41) and two nuts (13).
(e) TORQUE the nuts (15) and nuts (13) to between 1.04 and 0.95 m.daN (92.04 and 84.07 lbf.in )

(f) Install bracket (17) to bridge fitting (12) using bolts (11).
(g) TORQUE the two bolts (11) to between 0.43 and 0.36 m.daN (38.05 and 31.86 lbf.in )

(b) Install the bridge fitting (12) to the engine and EEC retaining bracket (34) with three bolts (10), three washers (32), one washer (33) and three nuts (15).
(c) TORQUE the nuts (15) to between 1.04 and 0.95 m.daN (92.04 and 84.07 lbf.in )

(d) Attach the bracket (17) to the bridge fitting (12) with the two bolts (11), four washers (35) and two nuts (36).
(e) TORQUE the two bolts (11) to between 1.43 and 1.23 m.daN (126.55 and 108.85 lbf.in )

(3) Installation of the LH aft bracket (19).
(a) Make sure that the SLING - LIFT is connected to the LH fan-cowl-door hoist point and that, the SLING - LIFT supports the fan-cowl-door weight.
(b) Lubricate the threads of the two bolts (6) with LUBRICATING OIL TURBINE ENGINE SYNT BASE (Material No.CPNCL00062) .
(c) Install the bracket (19) to support bracket (18) using two bolts (6).
(d) TORQUE the bolts (6) to between 0.79 and 0.68 m.daN (69.91 and 60.18 lbf.in )

(4) Installation of the Left Hand (LH) aft bracket spool (2).
(a) Make sure that the SLING - LIFT is connected to the LH fan-cowl-door hoist point and that, the SLING - LIFT supports the fan-cowl-door weight.
(b) Lubricate the threads of the spool (2) with LUBRICATING OIL TURBINE ENGINE SYNT BASE (Material No.CPNCL00062) .
(c) Attach the spool (2) with the washer (3), washer (4) and the nut (5) to the bracket (19).
(d) TORQUE the nut (5) to between 1.43 and 1.23 m.daN (126.55 and 108.85 lbf.in )

(5) Installation of the LH forward bracket (1).
(a) Make sure that the SLING - LIFT is connected to the LH fan-cowl-door hoist point and that, the SLING - LIFT supports the fan-cowl-door weight.
(b) Lubricate the threads of the two bolts (6) and one bolt (21) with LUBRICATING OIL TURBINE ENGINE SYNT BASE (Material No.CPNCL00062) .
(c) Put the bracket (1) in position on the engine.
(d) Attach the bracket (1) to the fan case with two washers (7), two bolts (6), two washers (8) and two nuts (9).
(e) Attach the power feeder cable (20) to the bracket (1) with bolt (21).
(f) TORQUE the two nuts (9) and one bolt (21) to between 1.43 and 1.23 m.daN (126.55 and 108.85 lbf.in )

(6) Installation of the aft RH bracket (28).
(a) Make sure that the SLING - LIFT is connected to the RH fan-cowl-door hoist point and that, the SLING - LIFT supports the fan-cowl-door weight.
(b) Lubricate the threads of the two bolts (31) with LUBRICATING OIL TURBINE ENGINE SYNT BASE (Material No.CPNCL00062) .
(c) Attach the bracket (28) to the fan case using two bolts (31), two washers (24) and two nuts (25).
(d) TORQUE the bolts (31) to between 1.43 and 1.23 m.daN (126.55 and 108.85 lbf.in )

(7) Installation of the aft RH bracket spool (30).
(a) Make sure that the SLING - LIFT is connected to the RH fan-cowl-door hoist point and that, the SLING - LIFT supports the fan-cowl-door weight.
(b) Lubricate the threads of the spool (30) with LUBRICATING OIL TURBINE ENGINE SYNT BASE (Material No.CPNCL00062) .
(c) Attach the spool (30) with the washer (29), washer (26) and the nut (27) to the bracket (28).
(d) TORQUE the nut (27) to between 1.43 and 1.23 m.daN (126.55 and 108.85 lbf.in )

(8) Attach all four fan cowl HORs to the corresponding bracket (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-12-400-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-12-400-804).
5. Close-upPRE SPOL BD-EBU-17002 AND POST SPOL BD-EBU-17018
(1) Installation of the Right Hand (RH) forward bracket (17) and bridge fitting (12).

(b) Lubricate the threads of the spool (30) with LUBRICATING OIL TURBINE ENGINE SYNT BASE (Material No.CPNCL00062) .
(c) Attach the spool (30) with the washer (29), washer (26) and the nut (27) to the bracket (28).
(d) TORQUE the nut (27) to between 1.43 and 1.23 m.daN (126.55 and 108.85 lbf.in )
. (8) Attach all four fan cowl HORs to the corresponding bracket (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-12-400-803) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-12-400-804).

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the pad universal attach (37) on the hoist points of fan cowl door with the pad universal attach screw (23).
(5) Install the filler plugs (38) from the lower hoist points of the fan cowl door.
(6) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

(7) Remove the access platform(s).
(8) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).

(3) Remove the sling fan cowl (22) in position on the fan cowl door. NOTE: The sling fan cowl (22) is part of the 98N7110H001-000 FAN COWL HOISTING DEVICE.
(4) Install the filler plugs (38) from the upper hoist points of the fan cowl door. (5) Install the filler plugs (38) from the lower hoist points of the fan cowl door.
(6) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
