Installation of the Aft Engine Mount

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Make sure that the engine is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-51-000-803).

4. Procedure

WARNING: THE AFT ENGINE MOUNT WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 35 KG. MAKE SURE YOU SAFELY SUPPORT THE AFT ENGINE MOUNT AND KEEP IT AWAY FROM OTHER ENGINE COMPONENTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY TO MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.

CAUTION: USE AN APPLICABLE HOISTING DEVICE DURING THE HANDLING OPERATIONS TO PREVENT MOVEMENT OF THE MOUNT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CASE CAN OCCUR.

A. Preparation before Installation
(1) Make sure that the 636-1000-30GSE ENGINE MOUNT HOISTING DEVICE AFT (8) is installed on the aft engine mount (1).
(a) Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.

Subtask 71-22-11-100-050-A

B. Installation of the Aft Engine Mount

WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE GREASE OR OIL ON ANY PARTS OF THESE ASSEMBLIES. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT, FOR EACH WASHER, YOU INSTALL THE CORRECT PART NUMBER AT THE CORRECT LOCATION. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THE PIN CAN BE MOVED OUT FROM ITS POSITION.

(1) Locate the aft mount on the engine, three points shackle shall be on the right hand side of the engine.
(2) Installation of the left and right assemblies:
(a) Engage the link assemblies to the engine flange.
(b) Install the two shackle pins (7) into the aft engine mount (1) and the left and right engine flanges.
(c) Install the two new AIPC 71-22-86-50-030 WASHER (4), the bolts (3), the two new AIPC 71-22-86-50-030 WASHER (6) and two new AIPC 71-22-86-50-020 NUT (5).

NOTE: You must install the nuts (5) on the forward side.

(d) TORQUE the nuts (5) to between 237.19 and 198.25 lbf.in (2.68 and 2.24 m.daN )

(e) Install the new AIPC 71-22-86-50-010 COTTER PINS (2).
(3) Installation of the center assembly:
(a) Install the safe pin (15) into the aft engine mount (1) and the center engine flanges.
(b) Install the retainer (14) (if discarded, install the new AIPC 71-22-86-50-070 RETAINER (14)) and install the new AIPC 71-22-86-50-090 NUT (13).
(c) TORQUE the nut (13) to between 237.19 and 198.25 lbf.in (2.68 and 2.24 m.daN )

(d) Install the lock plates (11) and (12).
(e) Install the bolts (9) and (10).
(f) TORQUE the bolts (9) and (10) to between 41.59 and 32.74 lbf.in (0.47 and 0.37 m.daN )

C. Removal of the Tool
(1) Remove the 636-1000-30GSE ENGINE MOUNT HOISTING DEVICE AFT (8) from the aft mount assembly (1).
(a) Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
