Removal of the Aft Engine Mount


WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU INSTALL/REMOVE THE GSE TOOL, READ THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS, AND, WHILE YOU OPERATE THIS TOOL, CAREFULLY OBEY THEM. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: THIS PART IS A REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENT (RSC), WHICH CAN BE MOVED BETWEEN AIRCRAFT. THUS IT CAN HAVE DIFFERENT OPERATION CONDITIONS AND A DIFFERENT LIFE RECORD (FLIGHT HOURS/FLIGHT CYCLES/CALENDAR) FROM THE AIRCRAFT IT IS INSTALLED ON OR REMOVED FROM. THE OPERATOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SPECIFIC TRACKING AND CONTINUED AIRWORTHINESS OF REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS. INCORRECT MAINTENANCE OF THESE COMPONENTS CAN CAUSE A RISK FOR THE FLIGHT SAFETY.

A. Remove the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-51-000-803).
4. Procedure
WARNING: THE AFT ENGINE MOUNT WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 35 KG. MAKE SURE YOU SAFELY SUPPORT THE AFT ENGINE MOUNT AND KEEP IT AWAY FROM OTHER ENGINE COMPONENTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY TO MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: USE AN APPLICABLE HOISTING DEVICE DURING THE HANDLING OPERATIONS TO PREVENT MOVEMENT OF THE MOUNT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CASE CAN OCCUR.

A. Preparation before Removal
   (1) Install the 636-1000-30GSE ENGINE MOUNT HOISTING DEVICE AFT (8) on the aft mount assembly (1).
     (a) Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
   (2) Safely support the aft mount assembly (1) with 636-1000-30GSE ENGINE MOUNT HOISTING DEVICE AFT (8).

B. Removal of the Aft Engine Mount
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
CAUTION: DO NOT USE GREASE OR OIL ON ANY PARTS OF THESE ASSEMBLIES. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Removal of the center assembly:
     (a) Remove the bolts (9) and (10).
     (b) Remove the lock plates (11) and (12).
     (c) Remove the nut (13) and the retainer (14).
     (d) Discard the nut (13).
     (e) Visually examine the retainer (14) for indication of damage:
       1 If there are scratches, marks and/or other damage, reject the part.
     (f) Remove the safety pin (15) from the aft engine mount (1) and the center engine flange.
     (g) Discoloration of the safety pin (15) is permitted. In case of dent, gouge, nick or scratch on the surface, discard the safety pin (15).
   (2) Removal of the left and right assemblies:
     (a) Remove and discard the two cotter pins (2).
     (b) Remove the two nuts (5), the two bolts (3), the two washers (4) and the two washers (6).
     (c) Discard the two nuts (5), the two washers (4) and the two washers (6).
     (d) Remove the two shackle pins (7) with your hand from the aft engine mount (1) and the engine flanges.
     (e) Discoloration of the shackle pins (7) is permitted. In case of dent, gouge, nick or scratch on the surface, discard the shackle pin (7).
     (f) If you cannot remove the two shackle pins (7) with your hand, use 636-1000-33GSE REAR MOUNT PIN EXTRACTOR and discard the shackle pins (7).
   (3) Disengage the link assemblies from the engine flanges.
   (4) Remove the aft engine mount (1) from the engine. Safely support the aft mount assembly and keep it away from the other engine components.
