A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

4. Procedure
Subtask 71-21-11-020-070-A
WARNING: REMOVE THE SCREWS ONE BY ONE. DO NOT REMOVE MORE THAN ONE SCREW AT THE SAME TIME. IF YOU DO, THERE IS A RISK THAT THE ENGINE WILL FALL AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
A. Removal of the Forward Engine Mount Bolts (One at a time)
NOTE: This procedure is applicable to one forward engine mount bolt.
   (1) Remove the locking plate system of one bolt of the forward engine mount (6).
     (a) Remove the screw (7) that attaches the locking plate (8) to the retainer (11).
     (b) Remove the locking plate (8).
     (c) Visually examine the screw (7) and the locking plate (8) for indication of damage.
  • If there are scratches, marks and/or other damage, reject the parts.
   (2) Remove one forward engine mount bolt
     (a) Loosen the bolt (9) to remove the remaining torque.
     (b) Remove the two screws (5) and the retainer (1).
       1 Visually examine the screws (5) and the retainer (1) for indication of damage.
  • If there are scratches, marks and/or other damage, reject the parts.
     (c) Remove the bolt (9), the washer (10), the nut (2) and the washer (3).
     (d) Remove the retainers (4) and (11).
     (e) Visually examine the retainers (4) and (11) for indication of damage.
  • If there are scratches, marks and/or other damage, reject the parts.
     (f) Visually examine the engine mount hole for indication of damage.
NOTE: You can use a MIRROR - INSPECTION and a FLASHLIGHT - HIGHPOWER.
