Removal of the Forward Engine Mount

CAUTION: THIS PART IS A REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENT (RSC), WHICH CAN BE MOVED BETWEEN AIRCRAFT. THUS IT CAN HAVE DIFFERENT OPERATION CONDITIONS AND A DIFFERENT LIFE RECORD (FLIGHT HOURS/FLIGHT CYCLES/CALENDAR) FROM THE AIRCRAFT IT IS INSTALLED ON OR REMOVED FROM. THE OPERATOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SPECIFIC TRACKING AND CONTINUED AIRWORTHINESS OF REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS. INCORRECT MAINTENANCE OF THESE COMPONENTS CAN CAUSE A RISK FOR THE FLIGHT SAFETY.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Remove the engine (Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-51-000-803).

4. Procedure

WARNING: THE FORWARD ENGINE MOUNT WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 33 KG (72.8 LB). MAKE SURE YOU SAFELY SUPPORT THE FORWARD ENGINE MOUNT AND KEEP IT AWAY FROM OTHER ENGINE COMPONENTS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY TO MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.

CAUTION: HOLD THE ENGINE MOUNT TO PREVENT HARD CONTACT WITH THE ENGINE DURING THE STEPS THAT FOLLOW. BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE (SCRATCHES) TO THE ENGINE CASE.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE GREASE OR OIL ON ANY PARTS OF THESE ASSEMBLIES. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.

Subtask 71-21-11-480-052-A

A. Preparation before Removal
(1) Remove the two Forward Mount Thrust Links (Ref. AMM TASK 71-21-11-000-803).

Subtask 71-21-11-020-072-A

B. Removal of the Forward Engine Mount
(1) Install the 636-1000-29GSE ENGINE MOUNT HOISTING DEVICE FWD (1) on the forward mount assembly (2).
(a) Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(2) Removal of the Fire Seal support (5) from the forward mount (2)
(a) Remove the 6 screws (7) and the plate nuts (6).
(b) Remove the Fire Seal Support (5) from the forward mount (2)
(3) Removal of the forward mount (2) from the Engine assembly
(a) Removal of the lockwire

WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

1 Remove and discard the lockwire that attach the 8 screws (3).
(b) Remove the screws (3) and washers (4).
(c) Remove the forward mount (2) from the Engine assembly.
(d) Safely support the forward engine mount and keep it away from other engine components.
