Installation of the Fan Cowl Keeper Proximity Sensor
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 71-13-51-010-051-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

B. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

A. Installation of the Fan Cowl Keeper Proximity Sensor (PRE SPOL BD-FC-19004)
(1) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(2) Put the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7) in position in the housing with the nut (11), washer (9) and peeling washer (8).
(4) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the latches monitoring harness connector (6).
(a) Carefully connect the latches monitoring harness connectors (6) to the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(b) Turn the connector nut clockwise until get connection.
1 Turn clockwise each connector until the red mark of the proximity sensor is hidden.
2 When the red marking is hidden, turn each connector by hand until you hear two "clicks".
(6) Plug the latches monitoring harness connector (6) with the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(7) Check the relative position of the target with the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(a) When the keeper is in the closed position, the target is in front of the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(b) When the keeper is in the open position, the target has any part in front of the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
1 If a misrigging of the target is detected, do a full target rigging procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-51-820-801).
(8) With the keeper in the closed position, measure the gap with a GAGE - FEELER between the sensor and the target. The gap must be to between 2 +0.1 mm or -0.4 mm (0.079 +0.004 in. or -0.016 in.).
(9) Remove the nut (11).
(10) Put in position the new AIPC 71-13-10-21-040 LOCK WASHER (10) and the nut (11) on the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(11) Tighten the nut (11) to get contact with the locking washer (10).
(12) TORQUE the nut (11) to between 1.27 and 0.73 m.daN (112.39 and 64.60 lbf.in )
.
(13) Bend the AIPC 71-13-10-21-040 LOCK WASHER (10).
Subtask 71-13-51-420-055-A (1) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(2) Put the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7) in position in the housing with the nut (11), washer (9) and peeling washer (8).
NOTE: Install the peeling washer (8) in the same position as before.
NOTE: At this step do not install the new AIPC 71-13-10-21-040 LOCK WASHER (10).
(3) In this position, tighten the nut (11) to attach the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7). (4) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the latches monitoring harness connector (6).
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(5) Connect the latches monitoring harness connectors (6) to the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7): (a) Carefully connect the latches monitoring harness connectors (6) to the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(b) Turn the connector nut clockwise until get connection.
NOTE: The connector must not hide the red mark on the proximity sensor.
(c) Tighten the latches monitoring harness connectors (6) by hand: 1 Turn clockwise each connector until the red mark of the proximity sensor is hidden.
2 When the red marking is hidden, turn each connector by hand until you hear two "clicks".
(6) Plug the latches monitoring harness connector (6) with the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(7) Check the relative position of the target with the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(a) When the keeper is in the closed position, the target is in front of the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(b) When the keeper is in the open position, the target has any part in front of the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
1 If a misrigging of the target is detected, do a full target rigging procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-51-820-801).
(8) With the keeper in the closed position, measure the gap with a GAGE - FEELER between the sensor and the target. The gap must be to between 2 +0.1 mm or -0.4 mm (0.079 +0.004 in. or -0.016 in.).
(9) Remove the nut (11).
(10) Put in position the new AIPC 71-13-10-21-040 LOCK WASHER (10) and the nut (11) on the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(11) Tighten the nut (11) to get contact with the locking washer (10).
(12) TORQUE the nut (11) to between 1.27 and 0.73 m.daN (112.39 and 64.60 lbf.in )
. (13) Bend the AIPC 71-13-10-21-040 LOCK WASHER (10).
B. Installation of the Fan Cowl Keeper Proximity Sensor (POST SPOL BD-FC-19004)
(1) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(2) Put the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7) in position in the housing with the nut (11), washer (9) and peeling washer (8).
(4) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the latches monitoring harness connector (6).
(a) Carefully connect the latches monitoring harness connectors (6) to the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(b) Turn the connector nut clockwise until get connection.
1 Turn clockwise each connector until the red mark of the proximity sensor is hidden.
2 When the red marking is hidden, turn each connector by hand until you hear two "clicks".
(6) Plug the latches monitoring harness connector (6) with the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).

(10) Put in position the nut (10) and the nut (11) on the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).

(12) TORQUE the nut (11) to between 1.16 and 0.88 m.daN (102.65 and 77.88 lbf.in )

Subtask 71-13-51-820-052-A (1) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(2) Put the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7) in position in the housing with the nut (11), washer (9) and peeling washer (8).
NOTE: Install the peeling washer (8) in the same position as before.
NOTE: At this step do not install the nut (10).
(3) In this position, tighten the nut (11) to attach the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7). (4) Remove the CAP - BLANKING from the latches monitoring harness connector (6).

(5) Connect the latches monitoring harness connectors (6) to the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7): (a) Carefully connect the latches monitoring harness connectors (6) to the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(b) Turn the connector nut clockwise until get connection.
NOTE: The connector must not hide the red mark on the proximity sensor.
(c) Tighten the latches monitoring harness connectors (6) by hand:1 Turn clockwise each connector until the red mark of the proximity sensor is hidden.
2 When the red marking is hidden, turn each connector by hand until you hear two "clicks".
(6) Plug the latches monitoring harness connector (6) with the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(7) Check the relative position of the target with the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(a) When the keeper is in the closed position, the target is in front of the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(b) When the keeper is in the open position, the target has any part in front of the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
1 If a misrigging of the target is detected, do a full target rigging procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-51-820-801).
(8) With the keeper in the closed position, measure the gap with a GAGE - FEELER between the sensor and the target. The gap must be to between 2 +0.1 mm or -0.4 mm (0.079 +0.004 in. or -0.016 in.).
(9) Remove the nut (11).
(10) Put in position the nut (10) and the nut (11) on the fan cowl keeper proximity sensor (7).
(11) Tighten the nut (11) to get contact with the nut (10).
(12) TORQUE the nut (11) to between 1.16 and 0.88 m.daN (102.65 and 77.88 lbf.in )
.C. Check and Adjustment of the Fan Cowl Door
(1) Do the operational test of the fan-cowl loss-prevention system (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-13-720-803).

D. Installation of the Sheet Metal Protection
(1) Put the sheet metal protections (1), (4) and (5) in position on the fan cowl door.
(2) Install the bolts (3) and washers (2).
(3) TORQUE the bolts (3) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
.
(4) Brush-seal the fasteners with MASTINOX D40 (Material No.CPNCL00338) .
5. Close-up(1) Put the sheet metal protections (1), (4) and (5) in position on the fan cowl door.
(2) Install the bolts (3) and washers (2).
(3) TORQUE the bolts (3) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
. (4) Brush-seal the fasteners with MASTINOX D40 (Material No.CPNCL00338) .

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
