Installation of the F1 Hinge Beam

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 71-13-46-941-053-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 71-13-46-420-051-A
A. Installation of the F1 Hinge Beam
   (1) On the left fan cowl, get access to the F1 hinge beam zone.
   (2) If necessary, clean the F1 hinge beam (1) with GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
   (3) Put the F1 hinge beam (1) in position.
   (4) If available, use 98N7110H003-000 FAN COWL PROTECTION BULLETS KIT to attach the bullet thread protector (3) to the forward hinge bolt (2).
   (5) Put one end of the F1 hinge beam (1) in position on the fan cowl forward hinge fitting (7) using the forward hinge bolt (2) equipped with bullet thread protector (3).
   (6) Remove the bullet thread protector (3) from the forward hinge bolt (2).
   (7) Install the washer (4) and the new AIPC 71-13-80-01-110 NUT (5) on the forward hinge bolt (2).
   (8) TORQUE the nut (5) to between 1.79 and 1.38 m.daN (13.20 and 10.18 lbf.ft )

   (9) Apply MASTINOX D40 (Material No.
CPNCL00338) on the fasteners.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (10) Safety the nut (5) with a new AIPC 71-13-80-01-120 PIN (6).
   (11) Apply MASTINOX D40 (Material No.
CPNCL00338) on the fasteners.
   (12) Do Steps (1) thru (11) again for the right side.
   (13) Remove the MAT - PROTECTIVE from the lateral zone of the fan case.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
