Installation of the Interphone-Jack Flapper Door
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 71-13-43-010-055-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

B. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position in front of the left fan-cowl door.
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position in front of the left fan-cowl door.
WARNING:
USE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
Subtask 71-13-43-420-051-A A. Installation of the Interphone-Jack Flapper Door
(1) Clean the interphone-jack flapper door (1) and the mating surfaces of the fan cowl door. Use Diestone DLS (Material No.CPNCL02589) and a Textile - lint free cotton (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
(2) Carefully put the interphone-jack flapper door (1) in position on the fan cowl door.
(3) Do a visual inspection of the liquid shim. Only do Para. 4.A.(3)(a) thru Para. 4.A.(3)(i) if the liquid shim is damaged.
(a) Remove the liquid/solid shim from the mating surface of the fan cowl door.
(b) Clean the interphone-jack flapper door (1) and the mating surface of the fan cowl door. Use Diestone DLS (Material No.CPNCL02589) and a Textile - lint free cotton (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
(c) Temporarily install the interphone-jack flapper door (1) on the right fan cowl. Use the bolts (3) and AIPC 71-13-80-03-020 NUT (2).
(d) Measure and record the maximum distance between the interphone-jack flapper door (1) and the fan cowl door.
(e) Remove the interphone-jack flapper door (1) with the bolts (3) and nuts (2) from the fan cowl.
(f) Apply a liquid or liquid/solid shim.
1 If the maximum distance recorded in Para. 4.A.(3)(d) is 0.50 mm (0.020 in.) or less, apply a liquid shim ofCPNCL01027 Two part paste adhesive (Hysol EA 9394) .
CPNCL01027 Two part paste adhesive (Hysol EA 9394) plus a solid shim of CPNCL02159 Epoxy carbon prepreg - plain weave 193 gsm 180 deg.C (356.00 deg.F) .
(g) Apply a thin layer of Release agent QZ 5111 (Material No.CPNCL00245) on the mating surfaces of the interphone-jack flapper door (1).
(h) Temporarily install the interphone-jack flapper door (1) on the right fan cowl. Use the bolts (3) and the new AIPC 71-13-80-03-020 NUT (2).
(i) Let the sealant cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
(j) Remove the interphone-jack flapper door (1) with the bolts (3) and nuts (2) from the fan cowl.
(4) Apply a thin layer of Release agent QZ 5111 (Material No.CPNCL00245) on the mating surfaces of the fan cowl door.
(5) If not done in a step before, apply a thin layer of Release agent QZ 5111 (Material No.CPNCL00245) on the mating surfaces of the interphone-jack flapper door (1).
(6) Carefully put the interphone-jack flapper door (1) in position on the fan cowl door.
(7) Remove the unwanted sealant.
(8) Let the sealant cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
(9) Install the interphone-jack flapper door (1) with the bolts (3) and nuts (2).
(a) Brush-seal the fasteners with Mastinox D40 (Material No.CPNCL00338) .
(10) TORQUE the bolts (3) to between 0.28 and 0.22 m.daN (24.78 and 19.47 lbf.in )
.
(11) Fill/seal the groove between the interphone-jack flapper door (1) and the fan cowl door with Polysulfide sealant - general purpose interfay (Material No.CPNCL01237) .
(12) Apply Sealant MC780B (Material No.CPNCL01420) andCPNCL00700 Direct adhesion topcoat 4125/6407 (Blue varnish) on the electrical bonding (two contact points) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
5. Close-up(1) Clean the interphone-jack flapper door (1) and the mating surfaces of the fan cowl door. Use Diestone DLS (Material No.CPNCL02589) and a Textile - lint free cotton (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
(2) Carefully put the interphone-jack flapper door (1) in position on the fan cowl door.
(3) Do a visual inspection of the liquid shim. Only do Para. 4.A.(3)(a) thru Para. 4.A.(3)(i) if the liquid shim is damaged.
(a) Remove the liquid/solid shim from the mating surface of the fan cowl door.
(b) Clean the interphone-jack flapper door (1) and the mating surface of the fan cowl door. Use Diestone DLS (Material No.CPNCL02589) and a Textile - lint free cotton (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
(c) Temporarily install the interphone-jack flapper door (1) on the right fan cowl. Use the bolts (3) and AIPC 71-13-80-03-020 NUT (2).
(d) Measure and record the maximum distance between the interphone-jack flapper door (1) and the fan cowl door.
(e) Remove the interphone-jack flapper door (1) with the bolts (3) and nuts (2) from the fan cowl.
(f) Apply a liquid or liquid/solid shim.
1 If the maximum distance recorded in Para. 4.A.(3)(d) is 0.50 mm (0.020 in.) or less, apply a liquid shim of
NOTE: Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
2 If the maximum distance recorded in Para. 4.A.(3)(d) is between 0.51 mm (0.020 in.) and 1.2 mm (0.047 in.) apply a liquid/solid shim of NOTE: Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
3 A clearance that is greater than 1.2 mm (0.047 in.) is not permitted. (g) Apply a thin layer of Release agent QZ 5111 (Material No.CPNCL00245) on the mating surfaces of the interphone-jack flapper door (1).
(h) Temporarily install the interphone-jack flapper door (1) on the right fan cowl. Use the bolts (3) and the new AIPC 71-13-80-03-020 NUT (2).
(i) Let the sealant cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
(j) Remove the interphone-jack flapper door (1) with the bolts (3) and nuts (2) from the fan cowl.
(4) Apply a thin layer of Release agent QZ 5111 (Material No.CPNCL00245) on the mating surfaces of the fan cowl door.
(5) If not done in a step before, apply a thin layer of Release agent QZ 5111 (Material No.CPNCL00245) on the mating surfaces of the interphone-jack flapper door (1).
(6) Carefully put the interphone-jack flapper door (1) in position on the fan cowl door.
(7) Remove the unwanted sealant.
(8) Let the sealant cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
(9) Install the interphone-jack flapper door (1) with the bolts (3) and nuts (2).

Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(1) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
