Subtask 71-13-41-941-063-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch,
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
   (3) Make sure that the slats are in the fully retracted position (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).
   (4) Make sure that the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS or 98D27803500002 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS is on the flap and slat control lever on panel 114VU.

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.
4. Procedure
Subtask 71-13-41-420-059-A
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
A. Installation of the Flag Assy

PRE SPOL BD-FC-18003

   (1) Clean the flag assy (6) with GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and a LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
   (2) Make sure that the pin (14) and the safety pin (15) are in position: flag serviceable.
   (3) Put the bushings (12) and (13) in position:
     (a) Brush-seal the fasteners with MASTINOX D40 (Material No.CPNCL00338) .
   (4) Install the springs (7) and (8) on the flag assy (6) in the same position as from where they were removed.
NOTE: An incorrect installation of the springs (7) and (8) can cause a malfunction of the flag assy (6).
   (5) Put the flag assy (6) in position on the fan cowl door.
   (6) Install the lever mechanical system (5).
   (7) On the lever mechanical system (5), install the washer (16) and the AIPC 71-13-10-18-140 NUT (17).
   (8) Do not increase the TORQUE tighten after assuring contact between the nut (17) and the washer (16).
   (9) Safety the nut (17) with the
AIPC 71-13-10-18-150 COTTER PIN (18).
   (10) Brush-seal the fasteners with MASTINOX D40 (Material No.
CPNCL00338) .
   (11) Clean the mating surface of the cover (11) with GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and a LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
   (12) Put the cover (11) in position on the fan cowl door.
   (13) Install the washers (10) and bolts (9) that attach the cover (11) to the fan cowl door.
   (14) TORQUE the bolts (9) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in ) T.
   (15) At the upper end of the push-pull cable (1), install the washer (2) and the pin (4).
   (16) Safety the pin (4) with the
AIPC 71-13-10-17-020 COTTER PIN (3).
   (17) Brush-seal the fasteners with MASTINOX D40 (Material No.
CPNCL00338) .

B. Installation of the Flag Assy

POST SPOL BD-FC-18003

   (1) Clean the flag assy (6) with GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and a LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
   (2) Make sure that the pin (14) and the safety pin (15) are in position: flag serviceable.
   (3) Put the bushings (12) and (13) in position:
     (a) Brush-seal the fasteners with MASTINOX D40 (Material No.CPNCL00338) .
   (4) Install the springs (7) and (8) on the flag assy (6) in the same position as from where they were removed.
NOTE: An incorrect installation of the springs (7) and (8) can cause a malfunction of the flag assy (6).
   (5) Put the flag assy (6) in position on the fan cowl door.
   (6) Install the lever mechanical system (5).
   (7) On the lever mechanical system (5), install the washer (16) and the AIPC 71-13-10-18-140 NUT (17).
   (8) Do not increase the TORQUE tighten after assuring contact between the nut (17) and the washer (16).
   (9) Make sure that the lever mechanical system (5) touches the mechanical stop when the flag is in the closed position.
   (10) Safety the nut (17) with the
AIPC 71-13-10-18-150 COTTER PIN (18).
   (11) Brush-seal the fasteners with MASTINOX D40 (Material No.
CPNCL00338) .
   (12) Clean the mating surface of the cover (11) with GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and a LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
   (13) Put the cover (11) in position on the fan cowl door.
   (14) Install the washers (10) and the bolts (9) that attach the cover (11) to the fan cowl door.
   (15) TORQUE the bolts (9) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in ) T.
   (16) At the upper end of the push-pull cable (1), install the washer (2) and the pin (4).
   (17) Safety the pin (4) with the
AIPC 71-13-10-17-020 COTTER PIN (3).
   (18) Brush-seal the fasteners with MASTINOX D40 (Material No.
CPNCL00338) .

C. Check and Adjustment of the Push-Pull Cable
   (1) After the system installation, do the checks that follow:
  • The system works correctly when you pull the keeper.
  • With the keeper in the closed position, the flag must not be extended more than the fan cowl skin.
  • With the system in the open position, make sure that the flag is completely open.
   (2) If one or more of these checks results is not correct, do the system rigging procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-41-820-802).

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS or 98D27803500002 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap and slat control lever on panel 114VU.
   (5) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
