WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION:
DO NOT EXTEND THE SLATS WHEN THE FAN COWLS AND THE THRUST REVERSER COWLS ARE OPEN. IF YOU DO THIS, DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT CAN OCCUR.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 71-13-18-010-051-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

(2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.
Subtask 71-13-18-320-050-A
A. If removed, prepare for the installation of the upper locator, LH/RH sides.
(1) Temporarily put the upper locator (1) or (9) in position on the fan cowl door.
(2) Use a MACHINE - DRILLING to transfer the existing holes from the fan cowl door to the upper locator (1) or (9).
(3) Use a MACHINE - DRILLING to drill holes in the upper locator (1) or (9) to 4.815 mm (0.190 in.) and 4.863 mm (0.191 in.).
(4) Remove the burrs after the drilling operation.
Subtask 71-13-18-320-051-A (1) Temporarily put the upper locator (1) or (9) in position on the fan cowl door.
(2) Use a MACHINE - DRILLING to transfer the existing holes from the fan cowl door to the upper locator (1) or (9).
(3) Use a MACHINE - DRILLING to drill holes in the upper locator (1) or (9) to 4.815 mm (0.190 in.) and 4.863 mm (0.191 in.).

Subtask 71-13-18-420-050-A (1) Temporarily put the lower locator (5) or (13) in position on the fan cowl door.

(3) Use a MACHINE - DRILLING to drill holes in the lower locator (5) or (13) to 4.815 mm (0.190 in.) and 4.863 mm (0.191 in.).

C. Installation of the Upper Locator, LH/RH Sides
(1) Clean the upper locator (1) or (9) and the mating surfaces of the fan cowl door. Use GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and a LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
(2) Do a visual inspection of the liquid shim.
(b) Clean the upper locator (1) or (9) and mating surfaces of the fan cowl door. Use GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
(c) Temporarily install the upper locator (1) or (9) on the fan cowl door. Use the bolts (4) or (12), washers (3) or (11) and the new AIPC 71-13-10-15-020 NUTS (2) or the new AIPC 71-13-11-16-020 NUTS (10).
(d) Measure and record the maximum distance between the upper locator (1) or (9) and the fan cowl door.
(e) Remove the upper locator (1) or (9) with the bolts (4) or (12), washers (3) or (11) and the new AIPC 71-13-10-15-020 NUTS (2) or the new AIPC 71-13-11-16-020 NUTS (10). from the fan cowl door.
(f) Apply a liquid or liquid/solid shim.
1 If the maximum distance recorded in Step (d) is 0.50 mm (0.020 in.) or less, apply a liquid shim ofCPNCL01027 TWO PART PASTE ADHESIVE (HYSOL EA 9394) .
CPNCL01027 TWO PART PASTE ADHESIVE (HYSOL EA 9394) and a solid shim of CPNCL02159 EPOXY PREPREG CARBON FABRIC (AGP 193-PW 8552RC40) .
(g) Temporarily install the upper locator (1) or (9) on the right fan cowl. Use the bolts (4) or (12), washers (3) or (11) and the new AIPC 71-13-10-15-020 NUTS (2)or the new AIPC 71-13-11-16-020 NUTS (10).
(h) Let the sealant cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
(i) Remove the upper locator (1) or (9) with the bolts (4) or (12), washers (3) or (11) and the new AIPC 71-13-10-15-020 NUTS (2) or the new AIPC 71-13-11-16-020 NUTS (10) from the fan cowl door.
(3) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant - General Purpose Interfay (Material No.CPNCL01237) on the mating surfaces of the upper locator (1) or (9).
(4) Carefully put the upper locator (1) or (9) in position on the fan cowl door.
(5) Let the sealant cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
(6) Install the upper locator (1) or (9) with the bolts (4) or (12), washers (3) or (11) and the new AIPC 71-13-10-15-020 NUTS (2) or the new AIPC 71-13-11-16-020 NUTS (10).
(7) Wet-install the fasteners with Polysulfide Sealant - General Purpose Interfay (Material No.CPNCL01237) .
(8) TORQUE the bolts (4) or (12) to between 0.395 and 0.282 m.daN (34.96 and 24.96 lbf.in )
.
(9) Remove the unwanted sealant with a GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
(10) Apply SEALANT LOW DENSITY-FUEL TANK & GP (Material No.CPNCL01420) andCPNCL00700 ELECTRICAL BONDING COATING (BLUE COLOR) (two contact points) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
Subtask 71-13-18-420-051-A (1) Clean the upper locator (1) or (9) and the mating surfaces of the fan cowl door. Use GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and a LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
(2) Do a visual inspection of the liquid shim.
- If the liquid shim is damaged, do Steps (a) thru (i).
(b) Clean the upper locator (1) or (9) and mating surfaces of the fan cowl door. Use GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
(c) Temporarily install the upper locator (1) or (9) on the fan cowl door. Use the bolts (4) or (12), washers (3) or (11) and the new AIPC 71-13-10-15-020 NUTS (2) or the new AIPC 71-13-11-16-020 NUTS (10).
(d) Measure and record the maximum distance between the upper locator (1) or (9) and the fan cowl door.
(e) Remove the upper locator (1) or (9) with the bolts (4) or (12), washers (3) or (11) and the new AIPC 71-13-10-15-020 NUTS (2) or the new AIPC 71-13-11-16-020 NUTS (10). from the fan cowl door.
(f) Apply a liquid or liquid/solid shim.
1 If the maximum distance recorded in Step (d) is 0.50 mm (0.020 in.) or less, apply a liquid shim of
NOTE: Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
2 If the maximum distance recorded in Step (d) is between 0.50 mm (0.020 in.) and 1.2 mm (0.047 in.), apply a liquid/solid shim of NOTE: Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
3 A clearance greater than 1.2 mm (0.047 in.) is not permitted. (g) Temporarily install the upper locator (1) or (9) on the right fan cowl. Use the bolts (4) or (12), washers (3) or (11) and the new AIPC 71-13-10-15-020 NUTS (2)or the new AIPC 71-13-11-16-020 NUTS (10).
(h) Let the sealant cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
(i) Remove the upper locator (1) or (9) with the bolts (4) or (12), washers (3) or (11) and the new AIPC 71-13-10-15-020 NUTS (2) or the new AIPC 71-13-11-16-020 NUTS (10) from the fan cowl door.
(3) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant - General Purpose Interfay (Material No.CPNCL01237) on the mating surfaces of the upper locator (1) or (9).
(4) Carefully put the upper locator (1) or (9) in position on the fan cowl door.
(5) Let the sealant cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
(6) Install the upper locator (1) or (9) with the bolts (4) or (12), washers (3) or (11) and the new AIPC 71-13-10-15-020 NUTS (2) or the new AIPC 71-13-11-16-020 NUTS (10).
(7) Wet-install the fasteners with Polysulfide Sealant - General Purpose Interfay (Material No.CPNCL01237) .
(8) TORQUE the bolts (4) or (12) to between 0.395 and 0.282 m.daN (34.96 and 24.96 lbf.in )

D. Installation of the Lower Locator, LH/RH Sides
(1) Clean the lower locator (5) or (13) and mating surfaces of the fan cowl door. Use GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and a LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
(2) Do a visual inspection of the liquid shim.
(b) Clean the lower locator (5) or (13) and mating surfaces of the fan cowl door. Use GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
(c) Temporarily install the lower locator (5) or (13) on the fan cowl door. Use the bolts (8) or (16), washers (7) or (15) and the new AIPC 71-13-10-16-020 NUTS (6) or the new AIPC 71-13-11-17-020 NUTS (14).
(d) Measure and record the maximum distance between the lower locator (5) or (13) and fan cowl door.
(e) Remove the lower locator (5) or (13) with the bolts (8) or (16), washers (7) or (15) and the new AIPC 71-13-10-16-020 NUTS (6) or the new AIPC 71-13-11-17-020 NUTS (14) from the fan cowl door.
(f) Apply a liquid or liquid/solid shim.
1 If the maximum distance recorded in Step (d) is 0.50 mm (0.020 in.) or less, apply a liquid shim ofCPNCL01027 TWO PART PASTE ADHESIVE (HYSOL EA 9394) .
CPNCL01027 TWO PART PASTE ADHESIVE (HYSOL EA 9394) and a solid shim of CPNCL02159 EPOXY PREPREG CARBON FABRIC (AGP 193-PW 8552RC40) .
(g) Temporarily install the lower locator (5) or (13) on the right fan cowl. Use the bolts (8) or (16), washers (7) or (15) and the new AIPC 71-13-10-16-020 NUTS (6) or the new AIPC 71-13-11-17-020 NUTS (14).
(h) Let the sealant cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
(i) Remove the lower locator (5) or (13) with the bolts (8) or (16), washers (7) or (15) and the new AIPC 71-13-10-16-020 NUTS (6) or the new AIPC 71-13-11-17-020 NUTS (14) from the fan cowl.
(3) Apply a thin layer Polysulfide Sealant - General Purpose Interfay (Material No.CPNCL01237) on the mating surfaces of the lower locator (5) or (13).
(4) Carefully put the lower locator (5) or (13) in position on the fan cowl door.
(5) Let the sealant cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
(6) Install the lower locator (5) or (13) with the bolts (8) or (16), washers (7) or (15) and the new AIPC 71-13-10-16-020 NUTS (6) or the new AIPC 71-13-11-17-020 NUTS (14).
(7) Wet-install the fasteners with Polysulfide Sealant - General Purpose Interfay (Material No.CPNCL01237) .
(8) TORQUE the bolts (8) or (16) to between 0.395 and 0.282 m.daN (34.96 and 24.96 lbf.in )

(9) Remove the unwanted sealant with GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
(10) Apply SEALANT LOW DENSITY-FUEL TANK & GP (Material No.CPNCL01420) andCPNCL00700 ELECTRICAL BONDING COATING (BLUE COLOR) (two contact points) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
5. Close-up(1) Clean the lower locator (5) or (13) and mating surfaces of the fan cowl door. Use GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and a LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
(2) Do a visual inspection of the liquid shim.
- If the liquid shim is damaged, do Steps (a) thru (i).
(b) Clean the lower locator (5) or (13) and mating surfaces of the fan cowl door. Use GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
(c) Temporarily install the lower locator (5) or (13) on the fan cowl door. Use the bolts (8) or (16), washers (7) or (15) and the new AIPC 71-13-10-16-020 NUTS (6) or the new AIPC 71-13-11-17-020 NUTS (14).
(d) Measure and record the maximum distance between the lower locator (5) or (13) and fan cowl door.
(e) Remove the lower locator (5) or (13) with the bolts (8) or (16), washers (7) or (15) and the new AIPC 71-13-10-16-020 NUTS (6) or the new AIPC 71-13-11-17-020 NUTS (14) from the fan cowl door.
(f) Apply a liquid or liquid/solid shim.
1 If the maximum distance recorded in Step (d) is 0.50 mm (0.020 in.) or less, apply a liquid shim of

(3) Apply a thin layer Polysulfide Sealant - General Purpose Interfay (Material No.CPNCL01237) on the mating surfaces of the lower locator (5) or (13).
(4) Carefully put the lower locator (5) or (13) in position on the fan cowl door.
(5) Let the sealant cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
(6) Install the lower locator (5) or (13) with the bolts (8) or (16), washers (7) or (15) and the new AIPC 71-13-10-16-020 NUTS (6) or the new AIPC 71-13-11-17-020 NUTS (14).
(7) Wet-install the fasteners with Polysulfide Sealant - General Purpose Interfay (Material No.CPNCL01237) .
(8) TORQUE the bolts (8) or (16) to between 0.395 and 0.282 m.daN (34.96 and 24.96 lbf.in )
