Installation of the Fan Cowl Door Keepers


WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 71-13-13-941-067-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

4. Procedure
Subtask 71-13-13-420-061-A
A. Installation of the Fan Cowl Door Keepers
   (1) Put the mounting plate (13) or (14) or (15) in position on the fan cowl door.
NOTE: The mounting plate (13) is part of the fan cowl door keeper (22).
NOTE: The mounting plate (14) is part of the fan cowl door keeper (23).
NOTE: The mounting plate (15) is part of the fan cowl door keeper (24).
   (2) Install the mounting plate (13) or (14) or (15) with the bolts (34) or (35) or (36) and washers (31) or (32) or (33).
   (3) TORQUE the bolts (34) or (35) or (36) to between 0.28 and 0.23 m.daN (24.78 and 20.35 lbf.in ) T.
   (4) Brush-seal the fasteners (12) with MASTINOX D40 (Material No.
CPNCL00338) .
   (5) Put the housing assembly (19) or (20) or (21) in position on the fan cowl door.
NOTE: The housing assembly (19) is part of the fan cowl door keeper (22).
NOTE: The housing assembly (20) is part of the fan cowl door keeper (23).
NOTE: The housing assembly (21) is part of the fan cowl door keeper (24).
   (6) Install the housing assembly (19) or (20) or (21) with the bolts (37) or (38) (39), washers (25) or (26) or (27) and the new AIPC 71-13-10-10-260 NUTS (28) or new AIPC 71-13-10-10-420 NUTS (29) or new AIPC 71-13-10-10-590 NUTS (30).
   (7) TORQUE the bolts (37) or (38) or (39) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
T.
   (8) Brush-seal the fasteners (15) with MASTINOX D40 (Material No.
CPNCL00338) .
   (9) Retract the clevis.
CAUTION: DO NOT TURN THE CLEVISES. IF YOU TURN THE CLEVISES, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HOUSING GUIDE. IF THE GUIDE IS DAMAGED, THE CLEVIS CAN TURN. IF THE CLEVIS CAN TURN, THE CLEVIS CAN NOT ENGAGE CORRECTLY WITH THE LATCH AND CAN KEEP THE LATCH FROM CLOSING CORRECTLY. IF THE LATCHES ARE NOT CLOSED CORRECTLY, THE FAN COWLS CAN OPEN IN FLIGHT.
     (a) With a WRENCH - HEXAGONAL, rotate the adjusting nut (16) or (17) or (18) to retract the clevis (10) or (11) or (12) into the housing assembly (19) or (20) or (21).
NOTE: The clevis (10), the adjusting nut (16) and the housing assembly (19) are parts of the fan cowl door keepers (22).
NOTE: The clevis (11), the adjusting nut (17) and the housing assembly (20) are parts of the fan cowl door keepers (23).
NOTE: The clevis (12), the adjusting nut (18) and the housing assembly (21) are parts of the fan cowl door keepers (24).

B. Installation of the Sheet Metal Protection
   (1) Put the sheet metal protection (1) or (4) or (7) in position on the fan cowl door.
   (2) Install the bolts (3) or (6) or (9) and washers (2) or (5) or (8).
   (3) TORQUE the bolts (3) or (6) or (9) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in ) T.
   (4) Brush-seal the fasteners (3) with MASTINOX D40 (Material No.
CPNCL00338) .

C. Check and Adjustment of the Fan Cowl Door
   (1) Do a check of the clearance between the replaced fan cowl door keepers and the fan cowl door keeper sensors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-51-820-801).
   (2) Do the functional check of the fan cowl door latch tension (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-13-720-801).
   (3) Do the operational test of the fan cowl loss prevention system (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-13-720-803).
   (4) If L1 has been replaced, do the adjustment of the latch position detection device (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-41-820-802).

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
