Removal of the Fan Cowl Door Keepers
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
CAUTION:
DO NOT EXTEND THE SLATS WHEN THE FAN COWLS AND THE THRUST REVERSER COWLS ARE OPEN. IF YOU DO THIS, DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT CAN OCCUR.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 71-13-13-010-071-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

A. Removal of the Sheet Metal Protection
(1) Remove the sheet metal protections:
(a) Remove the bolts (3) or (6) or (9) and washers (2) or (5) or (8).
(b) Remove the sheet metal protection (1) or (4) or (7) from the fan cowl door.
Subtask 71-13-13-020-065-A (1) Remove the sheet metal protections:
(a) Remove the bolts (3) or (6) or (9) and washers (2) or (5) or (8).
(b) Remove the sheet metal protection (1) or (4) or (7) from the fan cowl door.
B. Removal of the Fan Cowl Door Keepers
(a) With a WRENCH - HEXAGONAL, rotate the adjusting nut (16) or (17) or (18) to extend the clevis (10) or (11) or (12) and remove it from the housing assembly (19) or (20) or (21).
(c) Remove the housing assembly (19) or (20) or (21) from the fan cowl door.
(e) Remove the mounting plate (13) or (14) or (15) from the fan cowl door.
CAUTION:
DO NOT TURN THE CLEVISES. IF YOU TURN THE CLEVISES, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HOUSING GUIDE. IF THE GUIDE IS DAMAGED, THE CLEVIS CAN TURN. IF THE CLEVIS CAN TURN, THE CLEVIS CAN NOT ENGAGE CORRECTLY WITH THE LATCH AND CAN KEEP THE LATCH FROM CLOSING CORRECTLY. IF THE LATCHES ARE NOT CLOSED CORRECTLY, THE FAN COWLS CAN OPEN IN FLIGHT.
(1) Remove the fan cowl door keepers: (a) With a WRENCH - HEXAGONAL, rotate the adjusting nut (16) or (17) or (18) to extend the clevis (10) or (11) or (12) and remove it from the housing assembly (19) or (20) or (21).
NOTE: The clevis (10), the adjusting nut (16) and the housing assembly (19) are parts of the fan cowl door keeper (22).
NOTE: The clevis (11), the adjusting nut (17) and the housing assembly (20) are parts of the fan cowl door keeper (23).
NOTE: The clevis (12), the adjusting nut (18) and the housing assembly (21) are parts of the fan cowl door keeper (24).
(b) Remove the bolts (37) or (38) or (39), washers (25) or (26) or (27) and nuts (28) or (29) or (30). Discard the nuts (28) or (29) or (30). (c) Remove the housing assembly (19) or (20) or (21) from the fan cowl door.
NOTE: The housing assembly (19) is part of the fan cowl door keeper (22).
NOTE: The housing assembly (20) is part of the fan cowl door keeper (23).
NOTE: The housing assembly (21) is part of the fan cowl door keeper (24).
(d) Remove the bolts (34) or (35) or (36) and washers (31) or (32) or (33). (e) Remove the mounting plate (13) or (14) or (15) from the fan cowl door.
NOTE: The mounting plate (13) is part of the fan cowl door keeper (22).
NOTE: The mounting plate (14) is part of the fan cowl door keeper (23).
NOTE: The mounting plate (15) is part of the fan cowl door keeper (24).
