Connection of the Forward Hold-Open Rod (HOR) Fitting if there is Jamming

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 71-13-12-010-060-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

B. Get Access
(1) Get access to the fan cowl doors.
(2) Make sure that 98N7110H001-000 FAN COWL HOISTING DEVICE are installed and that the slings support the fan cowl door weight.
(3) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

(4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.
4. Procedure(1) Get access to the fan cowl doors.
(2) Make sure that 98N7110H001-000 FAN COWL HOISTING DEVICE are installed and that the slings support the fan cowl door weight.
(3) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

(4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position.
Subtask 71-13-12-420-055-A
A. Installation of the HOR Forward Fitting Assy
(1) Clean the HOR forward fitting assy (8) and mating surfaces of the fan cowl doors. Use GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
(2) Carefully put the HOR forward fitting assy (8) in position on the fan cowl doors.
(3) Do a visual inspection of the liquid shim. Do steps (a) thru (i) only if the liquid shim is damaged.
(a) Remove the liquid or liquid/solid shim from the mating surface of the fan cowl doors.
(b) Clean the HOR forward fitting assy (8) and mating surface of the fan cowl doors with GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
(c) Temporarily install the HOR forward fitting assy (8) on the fan cowl. Use the screws (6) and washers (7).
(d) Measure and record the maximum distance between the HOR forward fitting assy (8) and the fan cowl doors.
(e) Remove the HOR forward fitting assy (8) with the screws (6) and washers (7) from the fan cowl.
(f) Apply a liquid or liquid/solid shim:
1 If the maximum distance recorded in Step (d) is 0.50 mm (0.02 in.) or less, apply a liquid shim ofCPNCL01027 TWO PART PASTE ADHESIVE (HYSOL EA 9394) .
a Apply a liquid/solid shim ofCPNCL01027 TWO PART PASTE ADHESIVE (HYSOL EA 9394) plus a solid shim of CPNCL02159 EPOXY PREPREG CARBON FABRIC (AGP 193-PW 8552RC40) .
(g) Temporarily install the HOR forward fitting assy (8) on the fan cowl. Use the screws (6) and washers (7).
(h) Let the sealant cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
(i) Remove the HOR forward fitting assy (8) with the screws (6) and washers (7) from the fan cowl.
(4) Apply a thin layer of SEALANT LOW DENSITY-FUEL TANK & GP (Material No.CPNCL01420) on the mating surfaces of the HOR forward fitting assy (8).
(5) Carefully put the HOR forward fitting assy (8) in position on the fan cowl doors.
(6) Remove the unwanted sealant.
(7) Let the sealant cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
(8) Remove the HOR forward fitting assy (8).
(9) Clean the mating surface of the HOR forward fitting assy (8) with a GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
(10) Apply RELEASE AGENT QZ 5111 (Material No.CPNCL00245) on the HOR forward fitting assy (8) contact surface zone.
(11) Carefully put the HOR forward fitting assy (8) in position on the fan cowl doors.
(12) Install the HOR forward fitting assy (8) with the screws (6) and washers (7).
(13) Wet-install the screws (6) with Polysulfide Sealant - General Purpose Interfay (Material No.CPNCL01237) .
(14) TORQUE the screws (6) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )

(15) Brush-seal the screws (6) with MASTINOX D40 (Material No.CPNCL00338) .
(16) Apply SEALANT LOW DENSITY-FUEL TANK & GP (Material No.CPNCL01420) andCPNCL00700 ELECTRICAL BONDING COATING (BLUE COLOR) on the electrical bonding points (two positions) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
Subtask 71-13-12-420-056-A (1) Clean the HOR forward fitting assy (8) and mating surfaces of the fan cowl doors. Use GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
(2) Carefully put the HOR forward fitting assy (8) in position on the fan cowl doors.

(e) Remove the HOR forward fitting assy (8) with the screws (6) and washers (7) from the fan cowl.
(f) Apply a liquid or liquid/solid shim:
1 If the maximum distance recorded in Step (d) is 0.50 mm (0.02 in.) or less, apply a liquid shim of

3 A clearance of more than 1.2 mm (0.05 in.) is not permitted. (g) Temporarily install the HOR forward fitting assy (8) on the fan cowl. Use the screws (6) and washers (7).
(h) Let the sealant cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
(i) Remove the HOR forward fitting assy (8) with the screws (6) and washers (7) from the fan cowl.
(4) Apply a thin layer of SEALANT LOW DENSITY-FUEL TANK & GP (Material No.CPNCL01420) on the mating surfaces of the HOR forward fitting assy (8).
(5) Carefully put the HOR forward fitting assy (8) in position on the fan cowl doors.
(6) Remove the unwanted sealant.
(7) Let the sealant cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
(8) Remove the HOR forward fitting assy (8).
(9) Clean the mating surface of the HOR forward fitting assy (8) with a GENERAL CLEANING AGENT - MULTI PURPOSE (Material No.CPNCL02589) and LINT-FREE COTTON CLOTH (Material No.CPNCL02069) .
(10) Apply RELEASE AGENT QZ 5111 (Material No.CPNCL00245) on the HOR forward fitting assy (8) contact surface zone.
(11) Carefully put the HOR forward fitting assy (8) in position on the fan cowl doors.
(12) Install the HOR forward fitting assy (8) with the screws (6) and washers (7).
(13) Wet-install the screws (6) with Polysulfide Sealant - General Purpose Interfay (Material No.CPNCL01237) .
(14) TORQUE the screws (6) to between 0.48 and 0.37 m.daN (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )

B. Installation of the Forward HOR on the Engine Bracket
(1) Install a new forward fan cowl HOR (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-12-400-803).

C. Close the Fan Cowl Doors
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):

(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
(2) Remove the pad universal attach (5) from the hoist points of the fan cowl doors.
(3) Remove the sling-fan cowl (3) from the fan cowl doors.
Subtask 71-13-12-420-057-A (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
(2) Remove the pad universal attach (5) from the hoist points of the fan cowl doors.
(3) Remove the sling-fan cowl (3) from the fan cowl doors.
E. Installation of the Filler Plugs
(1) Install the filler plugs (1) in the upper hoist points.
(2) TORQUE the filler plugs (1) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )

(4) TORQUE the filler plugs (1) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )

5. Close-up(1) Install the filler plugs (1) in the upper hoist points.
