3. Job Set-up
Subtask 71-13-12-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
(3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M (3 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position.

B. Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040)

4. Procedure
Subtask 71-13-12-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Installation of the hold-open rod:
(1) Put the hold-open rod (50) in position on the mounting bracket (40). Attach the hold-open rod to the bracket with the bolt (45), the washer (30), the spacers (20), (25) and the nut (35).
(2) TORQUE the nut to between 140 and 100 lbf.in (1.58 and 1.13 m.daN )

(3) Push up the lock release sleeve (55) to engage the end of hold-open rod (50) in the retention bracket (60).
(4) Lower the fan cowl door and remove the fan cowl sling (5).
(5) Remove the universal attach pads (15) from the hoist points on the fan cowl door (10).
(6) Install the filler plugs in the fan cowl door.

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040)

(5) Remove the access platform(s).
(6) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
