Reactivation of the Fan Cowl Hold Open Rod (HOR) Bracket/Fitting
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT YOU USE THE FAN COWL DOOR SLING TO HOLD EACH FAN COWL IN THE OPEN POSITION. IF THE SLING IS NOT USED, THE COWL WILL NOT BE HELD CORRECTLY AND CAN CLOSE QUICKLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE COWL.
WARNING:
DO NOT EXTEND THE SLATS AND FLAPS WHEN THE THRUST REVERSER COWLS ARE DEPLOYED IN THE 45 DEG. POSITION.
WARNING:

Subtask 71-13-00-941-102-A
A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 71-13-00-010-126-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.

B. Get Access
(1) Get access to fan cowl doors.
(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

Subtask 71-13-00-020-068-A
A. Removal of the Filler Plugs
(1) Remove the filler plugs from the lower hoist points of the fan cowl door. Keep the plugs for the installation.
(2) Remove the filler plugs from the upper hoist points of the fan cowl door. Keep the plugs for the installation.
Subtask 71-13-00-480-055-A (1) Remove the filler plugs from the lower hoist points of the fan cowl door. Keep the plugs for the installation.
(2) Remove the filler plugs from the upper hoist points of the fan cowl door. Keep the plugs for the installation.
B. Installation of the Tooling
(1) Install the universal attach pad in the hoist points of the fan cowl door with the universal attach pad screw.
Subtask 71-13-00-010-127-A (1) Install the universal attach pad in the hoist points of the fan cowl door with the universal attach pad screw.
NOTE: The universal attach pad is part of the 98N7110H001-000 FAN COWL HOISTING DEVICE.
C. Opening of the Fan Cowl Door
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

D. Removal of the Access Platform
(1) If necessary, remove the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE to get access to the forward HOR (1) or (5) and the aft HOR (1) or (6).
Subtask 71-13-00-420-068-A (1) If necessary, remove the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE to get access to the forward HOR (1) or (5) and the aft HOR (1) or (6).
E. Reactivation of the Forward Fan Cowl HOR Bracket/Fitting
(1) Do a check of the liquid shim of the fan cowl door fitting for damage.
(a) The liquid shim must not be damaged in the area shown in the figure:
1 If the liquid shim is not damaged in the area shown, go to Para. 4.A.(6).
2 If the liquid shim is damaged in the area shown, continue the procedure.
(2) Remove the fan cowl door from the pylon (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-11-000-806).
(3) Replace the fan cowl door fitting:
(5) Go to Para. 4.A.(13).
(6) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Density Multi Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06ACB1) on the mating surfaces of the fitting (2) or (6).
(7) Carefully put the fitting (2) or (6) in position on the fan cowl door.
(8) Let the sealant cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
(9) Install the fitting (2) or (6) with the bolts (3) or (7) and the washers (4) or (8):
(a) Wet-install the fasteners with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) .
(b) TORQUE the bolts (3) or (7) to between 4.8 and 3.7 m.N (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
.
(c) Brush-seal the fasteners with Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) .
(10) Do a check of the maximum bonding value:
(a) Between the bolts (3) or (7) and the ground points.
(b) Make sure that the maximum bonding value in milliohms is not more than the maximum permitted value. Refer to AIPS 07-01-006.
(11) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Density Multi Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06ACA1) to the bonding points.
(12) Apply a layer of Varnish-- Electrical Bonding Structure (Material No.04TMB2) to the bonding points.
(13) Install the forward HOR (1) or (5) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-12-400-803).
Subtask 71-13-00-420-069-A (1) Do a check of the liquid shim of the fan cowl door fitting for damage.
(a) The liquid shim must not be damaged in the area shown in the figure:
1 If the liquid shim is not damaged in the area shown, go to Para. 4.A.(6).

(2) Remove the fan cowl door from the pylon (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-11-000-806).
(3) Replace the fan cowl door fitting:
- For the left fan cowl door
CMM 711310 - For the right fan cowl door
CMM 711311 .
(5) Go to Para. 4.A.(13).
(6) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Density Multi Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06ACB1) on the mating surfaces of the fitting (2) or (6).
(7) Carefully put the fitting (2) or (6) in position on the fan cowl door.
(8) Let the sealant cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
(9) Install the fitting (2) or (6) with the bolts (3) or (7) and the washers (4) or (8):
(a) Wet-install the fasteners with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) .
(b) TORQUE the bolts (3) or (7) to between 4.8 and 3.7 m.N (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
. (c) Brush-seal the fasteners with Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) .
(10) Do a check of the maximum bonding value:
(a) Between the bolts (3) or (7) and the ground points.
(b) Make sure that the maximum bonding value in milliohms is not more than the maximum permitted value. Refer to AIPS 07-01-006.
(11) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Density Multi Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06ACA1) to the bonding points.
(12) Apply a layer of Varnish-- Electrical Bonding Structure (Material No.04TMB2) to the bonding points.
(13) Install the forward HOR (1) or (5) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-12-400-803).
F. Reactivation of the Aft Fan Cowl HOR Bracket/Fitting
(1) Do a check of the liquid shim of the fan cowl door fitting for damage.
(a) The liquid shim must not be damaged in the area shown in the figure:
1 If the liquid shim is not damaged in the area shown, go to Para. 4.A.(6).
2 If the liquid shim is damaged in the area shown, continue the procedure.
(2) Remove the fan cowl door from the pylon (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-11-000-806).
(3) Replace the fan cowl door fitting:
(5) Go to Para. 4.A.(13).
(6) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Density Multi Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06ACB1) on the mating surfaces of the fitting (2) or (7).
(7) Carefully put the fitting (2) or (7) in position on the fan cowl door.
(8) Let the sealant cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
(9) Install the fitting (2) or (7) with the bolts (3) or (8), washers (4) or (9) and nuts (5) or (10):
(a) Wet-install the fasteners with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) .
(b) TORQUE the bolts (3) or (8) to between 4.8 and 3.7 m.N (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )

(c) Brush-seal the fasteners with Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) .
(10) Do a check of the maximum bonding value:
(a) Between the bolts (3) or (8) and ground points.
(b) Make sure that the maximum bonding value in milliohms is not more than the maximum permitted value. Refer to AIPS 07-01-006.
(11) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Density Multi Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06ACA1) to the bonding points.
(12) Apply a layer of Varnish-- Electrical Bonding Structure (Material No.04TMB2) to the bonding points.
(13) Install the aft HOR (1) or (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-12-400-804).
Subtask 71-13-00-080-057-A (1) Do a check of the liquid shim of the fan cowl door fitting for damage.
(a) The liquid shim must not be damaged in the area shown in the figure:
1 If the liquid shim is not damaged in the area shown, go to Para. 4.A.(6).
2 If the liquid shim is damaged in the area shown, continue the procedure.
(2) Remove the fan cowl door from the pylon (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-11-000-806).
(3) Replace the fan cowl door fitting:
- For the left fan cowl door
CMM 711310 - For the right fan cowl door
CMM 711311 .
(5) Go to Para. 4.A.(13).
(6) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Density Multi Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06ACB1) on the mating surfaces of the fitting (2) or (7).
(7) Carefully put the fitting (2) or (7) in position on the fan cowl door.
(8) Let the sealant cure. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for the cure time.
(9) Install the fitting (2) or (7) with the bolts (3) or (8), washers (4) or (9) and nuts (5) or (10):
(a) Wet-install the fasteners with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) .
(b) TORQUE the bolts (3) or (8) to between 4.8 and 3.7 m.N (42.48 and 32.74 lbf.in )
. (c) Brush-seal the fasteners with Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) .
(10) Do a check of the maximum bonding value:
(a) Between the bolts (3) or (8) and ground points.
(b) Make sure that the maximum bonding value in milliohms is not more than the maximum permitted value. Refer to AIPS 07-01-006.
(11) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Density Multi Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06ACA1) to the bonding points.
(12) Apply a layer of Varnish-- Electrical Bonding Structure (Material No.04TMB2) to the bonding points.
(13) Install the aft HOR (1) or (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-12-400-804).
G. Removal of the Tooling
(1) If removed, put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
(2) Remove the 98N7110H001-000 FAN COWL HOISTING DEVICE from the universal attach pad.
(3) Remove the universal attach pad from the hoist points of the fan cowl door.
Subtask 71-13-00-420-070-A (1) If removed, put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
(2) Remove the 98N7110H001-000 FAN COWL HOISTING DEVICE from the universal attach pad.
(3) Remove the universal attach pad from the hoist points of the fan cowl door.
H. Installation of the Filler Plugs
(1) Install the filler plugs in the upper hoist points.
(2) TORQUE the filler plugs to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
.
(3) Install the filler plugs in the lower hoist points.
(4) TORQUE the filler plugs to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
.
(5) Brush-seal the fasteners with Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) .
(6) Remove the unwanted sealant with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
5. Close-up(1) Install the filler plugs in the upper hoist points.
(2) TORQUE the filler plugs to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
. (3) Install the filler plugs in the lower hoist points.
(4) TORQUE the filler plugs to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in )
. (5) Brush-seal the fasteners with Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) .
(6) Remove the unwanted sealant with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-803):
