A. Safety Precautions

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):

CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
NOTE: This procedure is shown for the left fan cowl door. The procedure for the right fan cowl door is the same.
Subtask 71-13-00-350-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Removal of the Damaged Rubstrip
(1) Remove the rubstrip (1) from the fan cowl with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
(2) If necessary, remove the unwanted sealant from the fan cowl with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
Subtask 71-13-00-350-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the rubstrip (1) from the fan cowl with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
(2) If necessary, remove the unwanted sealant from the fan cowl with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
B. Installation of the New Rubstrip
(1) Clean the surface where you will install the new rubstrip (1) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl or equivalent.
(2) Clean the surface again with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl or equivalent. Do again until the lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) is clean after you rub the surface.
(3) Clean the surface with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) until it is dry. Do not let the solvent dry on the surface.
(4) Put the new rubstrip (1) in position on the fan cowl door panel. Attach the new rubstrip (1) on the fan cowl door panel temporarily. Use the masking tape (Material No.PU1-0046) or equivalent.
(5) Make a mask around the rubstrip (1) with the masking tape (Material No.PU1-0046) .
(6) Remove the new rubstrip (1) from the fan cowl door panel.
(7) Make the surface where you will install the rubstrip (1) rough withPU1-0061 abrasive paper, aluminum oxide , 180-grit or finer, or abrasive pad (Material No.PU1-0006) .
(8) Do step 4.B.(1) thru step 4.B.(3) to clean the surface again.
(9) Apply a layer of adhesion promoter (Material No.PU3-0029) to the fan cowl door panel. Let the adhesion promoter (Material No.PU3-0029) dry for 30 minutes.
(10) Mix the Sealant (Material No.PU3-0001) or Sealing compound (Material No.PU3-0001A) or Sealing compound (Material No.PU3-0001B) . Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
(11) Remove the peel strip from the new rubstrip (1).
(12) Apply a layer of Sealant (Material No.PU3-0001) or Sealing compound (Material No.PU3-0001A) or Sealing compound (Material No.PU3-0001B) to the new rubstrip (1) and the faying surface of the fan cowl.
(13) Make the layers approximately between 0.005 in. (0.127 mm) and 0.01 in. (0.254 mm) thick.
(14) Put the new rubstrip (1) on the fan cowl.
(15) Make sure that the rubstrip (1) fully touches the fan cowl at all places.
(17) If you can see bare surfaces of composite, paint them as follows:
(a) Mix base primer (Material No.PU4-0024A) and catalyst (Material No.PU4-0025A) . Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
(b) Apply a layer of base primer (Material No.PU4-0024A) mixture to the bare surfaces of the composite. Use a BRUSH - NON METALLIC, paint (Material No.PU10-0058) .
(18) Let the Sealant (Material No.PU3-0001) or Sealing compound (Material No.PU3-0001A) or Sealing compound (Material No.PU3-0001B) fully cure before you put the fan cowl into operation. Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
5. Close-up(1) Clean the surface where you will install the new rubstrip (1) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) made moist with

(3) Clean the surface with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) until it is dry. Do not let the solvent dry on the surface.
(4) Put the new rubstrip (1) in position on the fan cowl door panel. Attach the new rubstrip (1) on the fan cowl door panel temporarily. Use the masking tape (Material No.PU1-0046) or equivalent.
(5) Make a mask around the rubstrip (1) with the masking tape (Material No.PU1-0046) .
(6) Remove the new rubstrip (1) from the fan cowl door panel.
(7) Make the surface where you will install the rubstrip (1) rough with

(9) Apply a layer of adhesion promoter (Material No.PU3-0029) to the fan cowl door panel. Let the adhesion promoter (Material No.PU3-0029) dry for 30 minutes.

(12) Apply a layer of Sealant (Material No.PU3-0001) or Sealing compound (Material No.PU3-0001A) or Sealing compound (Material No.PU3-0001B) to the new rubstrip (1) and the faying surface of the fan cowl.
(13) Make the layers approximately between 0.005 in. (0.127 mm) and 0.01 in. (0.254 mm) thick.
(14) Put the new rubstrip (1) on the fan cowl.
(15) Make sure that the rubstrip (1) fully touches the fan cowl at all places.
NOTE: The edge of the new rubstrip (1) aligns with the outside edge of the fan cowl.
(16) Remove unwanted Sealant (Material No.PU3-0001) or Sealing compound (Material No.PU3-0001A) or Sealing compound (Material No.PU3-0001B) from the surface of the fan cowl. (17) If you can see bare surfaces of composite, paint them as follows:
(a) Mix base primer (Material No.PU4-0024A) and catalyst (Material No.PU4-0025A) . Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.
(b) Apply a layer of base primer (Material No.PU4-0024A) mixture to the bare surfaces of the composite. Use a BRUSH - NON METALLIC, paint (Material No.PU10-0058) .
(18) Let the Sealant (Material No.PU3-0001) or Sealing compound (Material No.PU3-0001A) or Sealing compound (Material No.PU3-0001B) fully cure before you put the fan cowl into operation. Refer to the instructions of the manufacturer.

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):
