Repair of the Fan Cowl Door Retroreflective Tape

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).
Subtask 71-13-00-010-110-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)
437AL, 438AR.
     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)
447AL, 448AR.
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
CAUTION: CUT ONLY THE TAPE. BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FAN COWL STRUCTURE.
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PAINT ON THE FAN COWL DOOR.
Subtask 71-13-00-350-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Repair of the Fan Cowl Door Retroreflective Tape
   (1) Carefully, cut the damaged retroreflective tape section that you want to replace.
     (a) Remove the damaged retroreflective tape section with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
   (2) Remove the remaining adhesive with the clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl.
     (a) Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with the clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it becomes dry.
       1 Make sure that you do not damage the remaining retroreflective tape on the fan cowl door.
   (3) Make the surface of the repair area on the fan cowl door rough with the PU1-0003abrasive paper, 220-Grit.
   (4) Clean the repair area of the fan cowl door with the clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl.
     (a) Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with the clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it becomes dry.
   (5) Cut a piece of the new AIPC 11-24-86-55-060 REFLECTV (1) the same length as the one that you removed.
   (6) Install the new retroreflective tape (1) on the repair surface.
     (a) Apply sufficient pressure with your hand.
     (b) Make sure that the retroreflective tape (1) fully bonds to the fan cowl door.

B. Replacement of the Fan Cowl Door Retroreflective Tape
   (1) Carefully, remove the damaged retroreflective tape with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
   (2) Remove the remaining adhesive with the clean cloth (Material No.
PU1-0001) and the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl.
     (a) Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with the clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it becomes dry.
   (3) Make the mating surface of the fan cowl door rough with the PU1-0003abrasive paper, 220-Grit.
   (4) Clean the mating surface of the fan cowl door with the clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl.
     (a) Remove the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl with the clean cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it becomes dry.
   (5) Install the new AIPC 11-24-86-55-060 REFLECTV (1) on the fan cowl door.
     (a) Apply sufficient pressure with your hand.
     (b) Make sure that the retroreflective tape (1) fully bonds to the fan cowl door.

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
