A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position.
4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 71-13-00-350-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Repair the Damaged Paint on the Fan Cowl Latch
   (1) If necessary, remove the applicable fan cowl latch from the fan cowl (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-11-000-805).
   (2) Remove the loose paint from the damaged area with PU1-0013abrasive paper, 320-grit.
NOTE: You can use 320 to 400-grit abrasive paper.
   (3) Clean the unwanted debris with the lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the solvent with clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the solvent dries.
   (4) Clean the damaged area again with a clean, lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl. Remove the solvent with a clean, lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the solvent dries.
   (5) Clean the damaged area one more time with a clean, lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) .
   (6) Mix the following in an applicable mixing cup:
  • 2 oz (59.14 ml) of PU4-0016topcoat, clear polyurethane
  • 1 oz (29.57 ml) of curing solution (Material No.PU4-0014)
  • 1 oz (29.57 ml) of polyurethane coating (Material No.PU4-0042) , (component A, pigmented Resin, color 38903, fluorescent orange)
  • 1 oz (29.57 ml) of polyurethane coating (Material No.PU4-0042) , (component B, aliphatic isocyanate resin, color 38903, fluorescent orange).
     (a) Mix the paint with an applicable mixing stick for 120 seconds.
     (b) Make sure that you mix the paint at five-minute intervals while you apply the paint.
   (7) Apply the paint to the damaged area with the brush-paint (Material No.PU10-0058) . Make sure that you apply paint on all of the surfaces of the damaged areas.
   (8) Let the paint dry for 24 to 48 hours at room temperature for maximum cure.
   (9) If you removed the fan cowl latch, install the fan cowl latch (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-11-400-805).
5. Close-up

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
