A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

     (b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position.
4. Procedure
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

A. Cleaning of the Fan Cowl Door Hinges and the Adjacent Structure
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (1) Clean the surfaces of the fan cowl door hinges, the attachment hardware and the adjacent structure with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and the PU2-0001alcohol, isopropyl.
   (2) Remove the alcohol with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it becomes dry.

B. Do a Detailed Visual Inspection of the Fan Cowl Door Hinges and the Adjacent Structure
NOTE: Do not discard a part until you are sure there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) for disposition.
   (1) Use a FLASHLIGHT and a MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X and examine the forward, middle and aft hinges. Look for dents, wear, corrosion, scratches, cracks, gouges or other damage.
     (a) If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures, or contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) for disposition.
   (2) Examine the hinge pins, washers and nuts as follows:
     (a) Use the FLASHLIGHT and MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X and examine the hinge pins, washers and nuts. Look for cracks, gouges, wear, corrosion, missing parts or other damage.
     (b) If you find damage, replace the damaged part (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-10-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-10-400-801) or (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-20-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-20-400-801).
     (c) Make sure that the hinge pins, washers and nuts are correctly attached.
     (d) Tighten or replace the part, as necessary.
   (3) Examine the jumper cables and the attachment hardware as follows:
     (a) Use the FLASHLIGHT and MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X and examine the jumper cables, screws, washers and nuts on the forward hinges. Look for breaks, wear, cracks, gouges, corrosion, missing parts and security of attachment.
       1 If you find damage, replace the damaged or missing part (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-02-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-02-400-801).
     (b) Make sure that the jumper cables are correctly attached.
     (c) Tighten or replace the attachment hardware, as necessary.
   (4) Use the FLASHLIGHT and MAGNIFYING GLASS POWER 10X and examine the structure adjacent to the hinges. Look for dents, cracks, gouges, corrosion or wear.
     (a) If you find damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual for allowable damage limits and repair procedures or contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) for disposition.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
