4. Procedure
Subtask 71-13-00-220-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Detect the position corresponding to the minimum clearance.
   (1) Apply CP (tape) on the right fan cowl to flatten the seal on a length of 11.8 in. (30 cm) before the center latch.
F Masking Tape ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (2) Before closing the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040), delimit the width of the AGB by writing marks on the tape.
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
437AL 438AR
     (b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
447AL 448AR
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SEAL AND THE AGB WITH THE STEEL RULER.
   (3) Insert vertically the steel ruler through the interstice of the closed fan cowls till contact with AGB.
F Steel Ruler Utilisation ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
NOTE: If necessary, delatch to insert the steel ruler more easily, and latch again to perform the measurement.
     (a) Move the steel ruler along the cowl, limited by the marks which visualize the width of the AGB, to detect position corresponding to the minimum value.
     (b) Record the value found at the minimum clearance position (dimension A).
     (c) Put a mark on a tape on the left fan cowl to visualize the position of the minimum clearance.
Subtask 71-13-00-220-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Measure the height between the fan cowl door skin and the seal bumper.
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040)
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
437AL 438AR
     (b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
447AL 448AR
   (2) Measure with a slide calliper the height between the edge of the seal bumper and the fan cowl skin where the dimension A has been measured.
NOTE: Use the mark done in step 3 (c)
     (a) Record the value found (dimension B).
Subtask 71-13-00-220-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Calculate the clearance between the left hand fan cowl and the AGB.
   (1) Subtract the dimension A to the dimension B.
     (a) If the value is bigger or equal to 0.12 in. (3 mm), no action is necessary.
     (b) If the value is strictly lower than 0.12 in. (3 mm), apply NSRM 542000, Repair n 13, to trim the Left Hand door seal bumper.
