B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 2)

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
WARNING:
WEAR APPLICABLE PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) WHEN YOU DO THIS TASK. BEFORE YOU USE PPE, READ, UNDERSTAND AND OBEY ALL INSTRUCTIONS FOR ITS USE. THESE INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDE INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE MANUFACTURER, YOUR EMPLOYER AND GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS. YOU CAN GET INJURED IF YOU DO NOT USE PPE. GET INSTRUCTIONS FROM YOUR EMPLOYER ON WHICH PPE IS NECESSARY.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 71-13-00-040-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Deactivation of the fan cowl strake.
(2) Install the temporary fasteners on the fan cowl door as follows:
(a) Clean the surfaces of the fan cowl door where you will install the temporary fasteners. Use a clean, lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) andPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl . Remove the PU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(b) Clean the bolts (3), (4), and (5) with a clean, lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) andPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl . Remove the PU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl with a clean, lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries. Install the nine bolts (5) and nine washers (2) on the fan cowl door. Wet install the nine bolts (5) with sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) .
(c) TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )

(d) Install the 15 bolts (3) and 15 washers (2) on the fan cowl door. Wet install the 15 bolts (3) with sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) .
(e) TORQUE the bolts (3) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )
.
(f) Install the two bolts (4), two washers (2), and two nuts (1) on the fan cowl door. Wet install the bolts (4) with sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) .
(g) TORQUE the nuts (1) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )
.
5. Close-upNOTE: This procedure is for the strake on the left fan cowl door. The procedure for the strake on the right fan cowl door is opposite.
NOTE: This procedure is for the left fan cowl door. The procedure for the right fan cowl door is the same.
(1) If the damaged fan cowl strake is there, remove the strake from the fan cowl (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-07-000-801). (2) Install the temporary fasteners on the fan cowl door as follows:
(a) Clean the surfaces of the fan cowl door where you will install the temporary fasteners. Use a clean, lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and
(b) Clean the bolts (3), (4), and (5) with a clean, lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) and
(c) TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )
. (d) Install the 15 bolts (3) and 15 washers (2) on the fan cowl door. Wet install the 15 bolts (3) with sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) .
(e) TORQUE the bolts (3) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )
. (f) Install the two bolts (4), two washers (2), and two nuts (1) on the fan cowl door. Wet install the bolts (4) with sealant (Material No.PU3-0004) .
(g) TORQUE the nuts (1) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )
