Installation of the Air Intake Cowl

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL DURING THE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION OF THE AIR INTAKE COWL. IT WEIGHS 328 Lb (149 kg). IF IT FALLS, IT CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION: ADJUST THE FAN COWL DOORS WHEN A NEW AIR INTAKE COWL IS INSTALLED. IF THE FAN COWL DOORS ARE NOT CORRECTLY ADJUSTED THE DOORS CAN OPEN IN FLIGHT.
CAUTION: THIS PART IS A REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENT (RSC), WHICH CAN BE MOVED BETWEEN AIRCRAFT. THUS IT CAN HAVE DIFFERENT OPERATION CONDITIONS AND A DIFFERENT LIFE RECORD (FLIGHT HOURS/FLIGHT CYCLES/CALENDAR) FROM THE AIRCRAFT IT IS INSTALLED ON OR REMOVED FROM. THE OPERATOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SPECIFIC TRACKING AND CONTINUED AIRWORTHINESS OF REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS. INCORRECT MAINTENANCE OF THESE COMPONENTS CAN CAUSE A RISK FOR THE FLIGHT SAFETY.

A. Cleaning of the Temporary Protective Yellow Coating from the Nose Lip
Do this procedure before you install a new or spare inlet cowl:
   (1) Use 2 in. (50.8 mm) maximum wide 3m tape no. 5490 (Material No.CP2306) around the circumferences of the leading edges of the inner and outer barrel panels to prevent solvent from discoloring panels.
   (2) Prior to installation of the inlet cowl, clean the temporary protective coating off the nose lip. Use a clean cotton cloth made moist with acetone (Material No.CP1039) or isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) or stoddard solvent (Material No.CP2011) or ardrox 552 (Material No.CP2559) or turco ind 79 (Material No.CP2560) or mag-chem tecksol (Material No.CP2566) or degreasol 99 R (Material No.CP2584) or mag-chem skysol (Material No.CP2656) SPM 702112.
   (3) Wipe off unwanted acetone before it dries.
   (4) Make sure that all of the protective coating has been removed. If not, do again this procedure until the coating is gone.
