WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 71-11-00-941-064-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (2) On the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine 1(2).
   (3) On the ENG section of the maintenance panel 50VU:
  • Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040).
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
   (3) Remove the anti-ice vent panel (10) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-11-00-000-044).
4. Procedure
Subtask 71-11-00-220-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Do a detailed visual inspection of the inlet cowl anti-ice inlet and exit ducts using a flashlight and an inspection mirror:

1.Anti-ice inlet duct for:


A.Dents
Two per linear foot (305 mm) provided depth does not exceed 10 percent of tube O.D. and radius is not less than 2 times the wall thickness.
If the damage is more than the allowable limits, replace the duct CMM 711119.
B.Holes and cracks
None permitted
If there are dents, holes or cracks, replace the duct CMM 711119.
C.Loose or missing fasterners
None permitted
If there are loose or missing fasterners, replace the fasteners CMM 711119.
D.Loose coupling or housing
None permitted
If the coupling or housing is loose, tighten or replace the coupling or housing CMM 711119.
2.Anti-ice exit duct, rubber boot and clamp for:


A.Dents and holes
None permitted
If there are dents or holes, replace the duct or boot CMM 711119.
B.Loose or missing fasteners
None permitted
If there are loose or missing fasteners, replace the fasteners CMM 711119.
C.Loose or missing clamp
None permitted
If the clamp is loose or missing, tighten or replace the clamp CMM 711119.
D.Cracks (rubber boot or clamp)
None permitted
If there are cracks, replace the rubber boot or clamp CMM 711119.
E.Cracks (nacelle anti-ice exhaust duct)
2 defects per duct, must not be greater than 3.6 in. (91 mm) and must not extend beyond the outboard edge of the clamp.
F Air Intake Cowl ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
30 days with weekly inspections without repair.
If there are cracks refer to:
  • CMM 710017 for repair
  • CMM 711119 for replacement.
5. Close-up
Subtask 71-11-00-410-061-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install the anti-ice vent panel (10) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-11-00-400-045).
   (3) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-040).
   (4) Do a functional check of the inlet cowl pressure relief door (Ref. AMM TASK 71-11-00-720-001).
   (5) Remove the access platform(s).
   (6) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
