A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the spoilers.
   (3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the applicable spoiler:
  • for spoiler 2, zone 583 (683)
  • for spoiler 3, zone 584 (684)
  • for spoiler 4, zone 585 (685)
  • for spoiler 5, zone 586 (686).
   (2) Do a manual extension of the spoilers (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
   (3) Fully extend the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
   (4) Make sure that the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER is installed on the spoiler servo control.
   (5) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever.
   (6) Disconnect the eye end of the spoiler servo control from the applicable spoiler:

4. Procedure

  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Preparation for Inspection
   (1) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the spoiler center hinge fitting.

B. Special Detailed Inspection (HFEC AND US) of Spoiler 2, 3, 4 and 5, Center Hinge Fittings
   (1) Do a special detailed inspection of the center hinge fitting on spoilers 2, 3, 4 and 5 NTM 577006 and NTM 577006.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 577000 for the correct repair procedure. If the defect is not included in this repair, you must request a procedure from AIRBUS.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Connect the eye end of the spoiler servo control to the applicable spoiler:
   (3) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the flap/slat control lever.
   (4) Retract the spoilers (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
   (5) Retract the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
   (6) Make sure that the applicable spoiler servo-control is in the O (Operation) condition.

C. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the access platform(s).
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the safety barriers.
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
