WARNING:
PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
- MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
NOTE: The clean/paint procedure is the same for all the spoilers.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
(2) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the HYD section of panel 40VU to tell persons not to pressurize the aircraft hydraulic systems.
(4) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
Subtask 57-71-11-860-050-A (1) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
(2) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the HYD section of panel 40VU to tell persons not to pressurize the aircraft hydraulic systems.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Extend the spoiler (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002)
(2) Make sure that the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER is installed on the spoiler actuator.
(3) Depressurize the aircraft hydraulic systems (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-864-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-864-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
4. Procedure(1) Extend the spoiler (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002)
(2) Make sure that the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER is installed on the spoiler actuator.
(3) Depressurize the aircraft hydraulic systems (Ref. AMM TASK 29-23-00-864-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-24-00-864-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
Subtask 57-71-11-110-052-A - DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
- MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
A. Cleaning
(2) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to remove heavy contamination.
(4) Use clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) to dry the spoiler.
(5) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the spoiler. Clean a small area at a time. Apply the cleaning agent to the cloth and not the cloth to the cleaning agent. This prevents contamination of the cleaning agent.
(6) Replace the cloth frequently to make sure that contamination is not put back on the surfaces.
(7) Clean recesses and edges with the BRUSH - WASHING and Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(8) Do the procedure again until the areas are clean.
(9) Flush the surfaces with clean water.
(10) Dry the surfaces with the clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
Subtask 57-71-11-370-050-A CAUTION:
DO NOT APPLY TOO MUCH PRESSURE WITH YOUR HAND OR YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PAINT.
(1) Use the VACUUM CLEANER or the BRUSH - BRISTLED, SOFT to remove loose particles. (2) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to remove heavy contamination.
NOTE: Make sure unwanted material does not go into the spoiler bearings and the servo control.
(3) Use clean water to remove the Aqueous Cleaner-Aircraft Exterior Pressure Spraying - (Material No.08ABC1) . (4) Use clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) to dry the spoiler.
(5) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the spoiler. Clean a small area at a time. Apply the cleaning agent to the cloth and not the cloth to the cleaning agent. This prevents contamination of the cleaning agent.

B. Painting
(1) Examine the paint finish for indications of damage.
(2) If necessary, repair minor damage to the paint top coat, when the primer coat is not damaged (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-12-300-003)
(3) If necessary, repair major damage to the paint finish, when the primer coat is damaged:

A. Aircraft Configuration
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Retract the spoiler (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002)
(3) On the servo-control, make sure that the pointer on the hex-head is opposite the letter 'O' (Operation) on the housing.
Subtask 57-71-11-942-053-A (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Retract the spoiler (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002)
(3) On the servo-control, make sure that the pointer on the hex-head is opposite the letter 'O' (Operation) on the housing.

(1) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the safety barriers.
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
(1) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
(4) Remove the safety barriers.
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
