Detailed Inspection of Spoilers 1 to 5, Upper and Lower Skins, External Surface
WARNING:
PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
1. Reason for the Job- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
- MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(2) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the spoilers.
(3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(4) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the applicable wing at spoiler 1, zone 580 (680).
Subtask 57-71-00-860-050-A (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(2) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the spoilers.
(3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(4) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the applicable wing at spoiler 1, zone 580 (680).
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(2) Make sure that the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER is installed on the spoiler actuator.
(3) Extend the flaps fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
(4) On the panel 114VU, make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever.
Subtask 57-71-00-865-050-A WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Do a manual extension of the spoilers (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002). (2) Make sure that the 98D27604000000 COLLAR-SAFETY, SPOILER or 98D27604004000 COLLAR SAFETY SPOILER is installed on the spoiler actuator.
(3) Extend the flaps fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
(4) On the panel 114VU, make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever.
C. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

Subtask 57-71-00-210-053-A - DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
- MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
A. Detailed Inspection of Spoilers 1 to 5, Upper and Lower Skins, External Surface
(1) Do an inspection of the external surface of the upper and lower skins of the spoilers 1 to 5. Make sure that:
5. Close-up(1) Do an inspection of the external surface of the upper and lower skins of the spoilers 1 to 5. Make sure that:
- there is no damage
- there is no delamination at the edges
- there is no delamination of the skin
- there are no cracks or scores
- the surface protection is in the correct condition.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 577000 for the correct repair procedure.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Retract the flaps fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
(2) Retract the spoilers (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
(3) On the servo-control, make sure that the pointer on the hex-head is opposite the letter 'O' (Operation) on the housing.
Subtask 57-71-00-942-054-A (1) Retract the flaps fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
(2) Retract the spoilers (Ref. AMM TASK 27-60-00-866-002).
(3) On the servo-control, make sure that the pointer on the hex-head is opposite the letter 'O' (Operation) on the housing.
C. Removal of the Equipment
(1) Remove the access platform(s).
(2) Remove the safety barriers.
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
