Aileron - Cleaning/Painting
WARNING:
PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.

1. Reason for the Job- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
- MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) below the applicable aileron, zone 590 (690).
(2) Remove the applicable access panels:

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
Subtask 57-61-11-110-050-A - DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
- MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
A. Cleaning
(2) Use Aqueous Cleaner-Aircraft Exterior Pressure Spraying - (Material No.08ABC1) to remove heavy contamination.
(4) Use clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) to dry the aileron.
(5) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the aileron. Clean a small area at a time. Apply the cleaning agent to the cloth and not the cloth to the cleaning agent. This prevents contamination of the cleaning agent.
(6) Lift the seal locally so you can clean the length of the aileron surface below it.
(7) Replace the cloth frequently to make sure that contamination is not put back on the surfaces.
(8) Clean recesses and edges with the BRUSH - WASHING and Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(9) Do the procedure again until all areas are clean.
(10) Flush the surfaces with clean water.
(11) Dry the surfaces with the lint-free cloth.
Subtask 57-61-11-210-050-A CAUTION:
DO NOT APPLY TOO MUCH PRESSURE WITH YOUR HAND OR YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PAINT.
(1) Use the VACUUM CLEANER or the BRUSH - BRISTLED, SOFT to remove loose particles. (2) Use Aqueous Cleaner-Aircraft Exterior Pressure Spraying - (Material No.08ABC1) to remove heavy contamination.
NOTE: Make sure that unwanted material does not go into the aileron bearings and the structure.
(3) Use clean water to remove the Aqueous Cleaner-Aircraft Exterior Pressure Spraying - (Material No.08ABC1) . (4) Use clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) to dry the aileron.
(5) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the aileron. Clean a small area at a time. C. If the aileron paint finish is damaged and access for repair is not possible, remove the aileron for access (Ref. AMM TASK 27-14-41-000-001).

(1) If necessary, repair minor damage to the paint top coat, when the primer coat is not damaged (Ref. AMM TASK 51-75-12-300-003)
(2) If necessary, repair major damage to the paint finish, when the primer coat is damaged:

C. Removal of Equipment

(3) Remove the safety barriers.
(4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
