Check of the Flap Track Fairing Lateral Movement
WARNING:
PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
1. Reason for the Job- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
- MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
To do a check of the flap-track fairing lateral movement.

A. Check of the Flap Track Fairing Lateral Movement
(1) Measure the lateral movement of each movable fairing as follows:
(a) Move the fairing (with a hand force of between 23 kg (50.7063 lb) and 27 kg (59.5248 lb)) to the left.
(b) Put the STRAIGHT EDGE in a vertical position against the flap trailing edge adjacent to the fairing. Make sure you do not move the straight edge.
(c) Move the fairing (with a hand force of between 23 kg (50.7063 lb) and 27 kg (59.5248 lb)) to the right. Do not move the straight edge.
(d) Measure the distance between the straight edge and the fairing to get dimension Y.
(e) Compare dimension Y with the maximum values in table 1.
(f) If dimension Y is not correct:
1 Make sure that the correct number of shims are installed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-400-001).
2 If dimension Y is more than the maximum values in table 1 after shim installation, remove the applicable fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-001).
3 Send the applicable fairing to the workshop for the replacement of worn or damaged components.
4 Install the applicable serviceable fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-400-001).
