MAKE SURE THAT THE FLIGHT CONTROL SAFETY-LOCKS AND THE WARNING NOTICES ARE IN POSITION.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
1. Reason for the Job- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
- MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

(2) Make sure that the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS is on the slat/flap control lever.
(3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate the slat/flap system.
Subtask 57-53-21-865-051-A (1) Make sure that the safety barriers are in position.

(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) is below the applicable outboard flap, at zone 533(633).
(2) Make sure that the applicable outboard flap is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-62-000-001).
Subtask 57-53-21-860-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) is below the applicable outboard flap, at zone 533(633).
(2) Make sure that the applicable outboard flap is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-62-000-001).
C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) is below the applicable outboard flap, at zone 533(633).
(2) Make sure that the applicable outboard flap is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-62-000-002).
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) is below the applicable outboard flap, at zone 533(633).
(2) Make sure that the applicable outboard flap is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-62-000-002).

A. Preparation for Installation.
(1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent areas with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
Subtask 57-53-21-420-051-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent areas with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
B. Installation of the Flap Attachment Bearing
(1) For Track 3, do the steps that follow:
(a) Clean the bore of the structure (5) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(b) Apply Mineral Oil base Grease-Anti-Fretting Paste - (Material No.03FDB1) to the mating surfaces of the new AIPC 57-53-21-02-080 SPHERICAL BEARING (4) and the structure (5).
(c) Make sure that the Mineral Oil base Grease-Anti-Fretting Paste - (Material No.03FDB1) does not touch the internal surfaces of the spherical bearing (4).
(d) Install the spherical bearing (4) in the position shown.
(e) Install the new AIPC 57-53-21-02-100 LOCKWASHER (6) on the spherical bearing (4).
(f) Clean the new AIPC 57-53-21-02-090 LOCKNUT (7) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(g) Apply Dry lubricant-Anti Seizing PTFE Loaded - (Material No.03QDB1) to the thread and the contact side of the locknut (7) to the lockwasher (8).
(h) Install the locknut (7) with the 98D27507541000 WRENCH - BEARING, FLAP TO CARRIAGE, TRACK 2, 3 AND 4.
(i) Clean the bolt (1) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(j) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the bolt (1).
(k) Install the rotation-lock (3) with the nut (8), the washer (2) and the bolt (1).
(l) TORQUE the nut (8) to between 1.4 and 1.2 m.daN (123.89 and 106.19 lbf.in )

(m) TORQUE the locknut (7) with the 98D27507541000 WRENCH - BEARING, FLAP TO CARRIAGE, TRACK 2, 3 AND 4 to between 10 and 8 m.daN (73.75 and 59.00 lbf.ft )

(n) Safety the locknut (7) with the lockwasher (6).
(o) Do a no-load Breakaway Torque of the spherical bearing (4) to 0.75 m.daN (66.37 lbf.in) maximum.
(p) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Smoother - (Material No.06AAE1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet - (Material No.06ABB1) for filling of cavities to the contact surfaces between the structure (5), lockwasher (6) and the locknut (7) and let the sealant dry.
(q) Clean the head of the bolt (1), the washer (2) and the nut (8) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(r) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to cover the sealant.
(s) Apply Pore Filler Polyurethane-- - Furnishing (Material No.04BAM6) to the head of the bolt (1), the washer (2) and the nut (8).
(t) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to cover the Pore Filler Polyurethane-- - Furnishing (Material No.04BAM6) .
(u) Clean the contact surfaces between the structure (5) and the rotation-lock (3) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(v) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Smoother - (Material No.06AAE1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet - (Material No.06ABB1) for filling of cavities to the contact surfaces between structure (5) and the rotation-lock (3) and let the sealant dry.
(w) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to cover the sealant.
(x) Apply red Top Coat Polyurethane-- Decorative External Structure (Material No.04JMD3) , as shown, to the spherical bearing (4).
(2) For Track 4, do the steps that follows:
(a) Clean the bore of the structure (13) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(b) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the mating surfaces of the new AIPC 57-53-21-02-170 SPHERICAL BEARING (12) and the structure (13).
(c) Make sure that the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) does not touch the internal surfaces of the spherical bearing (12).
(d) Install the spherical bearing (12) in the position shown.
(e) Install the new AIPC 57-53-21-02-190 LOCKWASHER (14) on the spherical bearing (12).
(f) Install the new AIPC 57-53-21-02-180 LOCKNUT (15) with the 98D27507541000 WRENCH - BEARING, FLAP TO CARRIAGE, TRACK 2, 3 AND 4.
(g) Clean the bolt (9) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(h) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the bolts (9).
(i) Install the rotation-lock (11) with the nut (16), the washer (12) and the bolt (9).
(j) TORQUE the nut (16) to between 1.4 and 1.2 m.daN (123.89 and 106.19 lbf.in )

(k) TORQUE the locknut (15) with the 98D27507541000 WRENCH - BEARING, FLAP TO CARRIAGE, TRACK 2, 3 AND 4 to between 10 and 8 m.daN (73.75 and 59.00 lbf.ft )

(m) Do a no-load Breakaway Torque of the spherical bearing (12) to 0.75 m.daN (66.37 lbf.in) maximum.
(n) Clean the contact surfaces between the structure (13), the lockwasher (14) and the locknut (15) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(o) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Smoother - (Material No.06AAE1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet - (Material No.06ABB1) for filling of the cavities to the contact surfaces between the structure (13), the lockwasher (14) and the locknut (15) and let the sealant dry.
(p) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to cover the sealant.
(q) Clean the head of the bolt (9), the washer (12) and the nut (16) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(r) Apply Pore Filler Polyurethane-- - Furnishing (Material No.04BAM6) to the head of the bolt (9), the washer (12) and the nut (16).
(s) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to cover the Pore Filler Polyurethane-- - Furnishing (Material No.04BAM6) .
(t) Clean the contact surfaces between the structure and the rotation-lock (11) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .

(f) Clean the new AIPC 57-53-21-02-090 LOCKNUT (7) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(g) Apply Dry lubricant-Anti Seizing PTFE Loaded - (Material No.03QDB1) to the thread and the contact side of the locknut (7) to the lockwasher (8).
(h) Install the locknut (7) with the 98D27507541000 WRENCH - BEARING, FLAP TO CARRIAGE, TRACK 2, 3 AND 4.
(i) Clean the bolt (1) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(j) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the bolt (1).
(k) Install the rotation-lock (3) with the nut (8), the washer (2) and the bolt (1).
(l) TORQUE the nut (8) to between 1.4 and 1.2 m.daN (123.89 and 106.19 lbf.in )
. (m) TORQUE the locknut (7) with the 98D27507541000 WRENCH - BEARING, FLAP TO CARRIAGE, TRACK 2, 3 AND 4 to between 10 and 8 m.daN (73.75 and 59.00 lbf.ft )
. (n) Safety the locknut (7) with the lockwasher (6).
(o) Do a no-load Breakaway Torque of the spherical bearing (4) to 0.75 m.daN (66.37 lbf.in) maximum.
(p) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Smoother - (Material No.06AAE1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet - (Material No.06ABB1) for filling of cavities to the contact surfaces between the structure (5), lockwasher (6) and the locknut (7) and let the sealant dry.
(q) Clean the head of the bolt (1), the washer (2) and the nut (8) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(r) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to cover the sealant.
(s) Apply Pore Filler Polyurethane-- - Furnishing (Material No.04BAM6) to the head of the bolt (1), the washer (2) and the nut (8).
(t) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to cover the Pore Filler Polyurethane-- - Furnishing (Material No.04BAM6) .
(u) Clean the contact surfaces between the structure (5) and the rotation-lock (3) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(v) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Smoother - (Material No.06AAE1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet - (Material No.06ABB1) for filling of cavities to the contact surfaces between structure (5) and the rotation-lock (3) and let the sealant dry.
(w) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to cover the sealant.
(x) Apply red Top Coat Polyurethane-- Decorative External Structure (Material No.04JMD3) , as shown, to the spherical bearing (4).
(2) For Track 4, do the steps that follows:
(a) Clean the bore of the structure (13) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(b) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the mating surfaces of the new AIPC 57-53-21-02-170 SPHERICAL BEARING (12) and the structure (13).
(c) Make sure that the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) does not touch the internal surfaces of the spherical bearing (12).
(d) Install the spherical bearing (12) in the position shown.
(e) Install the new AIPC 57-53-21-02-190 LOCKWASHER (14) on the spherical bearing (12).
(f) Install the new AIPC 57-53-21-02-180 LOCKNUT (15) with the 98D27507541000 WRENCH - BEARING, FLAP TO CARRIAGE, TRACK 2, 3 AND 4.
(g) Clean the bolt (9) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(h) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the bolts (9).
(i) Install the rotation-lock (11) with the nut (16), the washer (12) and the bolt (9).
(j) TORQUE the nut (16) to between 1.4 and 1.2 m.daN (123.89 and 106.19 lbf.in )
. (k) TORQUE the locknut (15) with the 98D27507541000 WRENCH - BEARING, FLAP TO CARRIAGE, TRACK 2, 3 AND 4 to between 10 and 8 m.daN (73.75 and 59.00 lbf.ft )
. (l) Safety the locknut (15) with the lockwasher (14).
(m) Do a no-load Breakaway Torque of the spherical bearing (12) to 0.75 m.daN (66.37 lbf.in) maximum.
(n) Clean the contact surfaces between the structure (13), the lockwasher (14) and the locknut (15) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(o) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Smoother - (Material No.06AAE1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet - (Material No.06ABB1) for filling of the cavities to the contact surfaces between the structure (13), the lockwasher (14) and the locknut (15) and let the sealant dry.
(p) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to cover the sealant.
(q) Clean the head of the bolt (9), the washer (12) and the nut (16) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(r) Apply Pore Filler Polyurethane-- - Furnishing (Material No.04BAM6) to the head of the bolt (9), the washer (12) and the nut (16).
(s) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to cover the Pore Filler Polyurethane-- - Furnishing (Material No.04BAM6) .
(t) Clean the contact surfaces between the structure and the rotation-lock (11) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .

B. Installation of the Flap Attachment Bearing
(1) For Track 3, do the steps that follow:
(a) Clean the bore of the structure (5) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(b) Apply Mineral Oil base Grease-Anti-Fretting Paste - (Material No.03FDB1) to the mating surfaces of the new AIPC 57-53-21-02-080 SPHERICAL BEARING (4) and the structure (5).
(c) Make sure that the Mineral Oil base Grease-Anti-Fretting Paste - (Material No.03FDB1) does not touch the internal surfaces of the spherical bearing (4).
(d) Install the spherical bearing (4) in the position shown.
(e) Install the new AIPC 57-53-21-02-100 LOCKWASHER (6) on the spherical bearing (4).
(f) Clean the new AIPC 57-53-21-02-090 LOCKNUT (7) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(g) Apply Dry lubricant-Anti Seizing PTFE Loaded - (Material No.03QDB1) to the thread and the contact side of the locknut (7) to the lockwasher (8).
(h) Install the locknut (7) with the 98D27507541000 WRENCH - BEARING, FLAP TO CARRIAGE, TRACK 2, 3 AND 4.
(i) Clean the bolt (1) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .

(o) Do a no-load Breakaway Torque of the spherical bearing (4) to 0.75 m.daN (66.37 lbf.in) maximum.
(p) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Smoother - (Material No.06AAE1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet - (Material No.06ABB1) for filling of cavities to the contact surfaces between the structure (5), lockwasher (6) and the locknut (7) and let the sealant dry.
(q) Clean the head of the bolt (1), the washer (2) and the nut (8) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(r) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to cover the sealant.
(s) Apply Pore Filler Polyurethane-- - Furnishing (Material No.04BAM6) to the head of the bolt (1), the washer (2) and the nut (8).
(t) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to cover the Pore Filler Polyurethane-- - Furnishing (Material No.04BAM6) .
(u) Clean the contact surfaces between the structure (5) and the rotation-lock (3) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(v) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Smoother - (Material No.06AAE1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet - (Material No.06ABB1) for filling of cavities to the contact surfaces between structure (5) and the rotation-lock (3) and let the sealant dry.
(w) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to cover the sealant.
(x) Apply red Top Coat Polyurethane-- Decorative External Structure (Material No.04JMD3) , as shown, to the spherical bearing (4).
(2) For Track 4, do the steps that follows:
(a) Clean the bore of the structure (13) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(b) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the mating surfaces of the new AIPC 57-53-21-02-170 SPHERICAL BEARING (12) and the structure (13).
(c) Make sure that the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) does not touch the internal surfaces of the spherical bearing (12).
(d) Install the spherical bearing (12) in the position shown.
(e) Install the new AIPC 57-53-21-02-190 LOCKWASHER (14) on the spherical bearing (12).
(f) Install the new AIPC 57-53-21-02-180 LOCKNUT (15) with the 98D27507541000 WRENCH - BEARING, FLAP TO CARRIAGE, TRACK 2, 3 AND 4.
(g) Clean the bolt (9) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(h) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the bolts (9).
(i) Install the rotation-lock (11) with the nut (16), the washer (12) and the bolt (9).
(j) TORQUE the nut (16) to between 0.7 and 0.6 m.daN (61.95 and 53.10 lbf.in )

(k) TORQUE the locknut (15) with the 98D27507541000 WRENCH - BEARING, FLAP TO CARRIAGE, TRACK 2, 3 AND 4 to between 10 and 8 m.daN (73.75 and 59.00 lbf.ft )

(r) Apply Pore Filler Polyurethane-- - Furnishing (Material No.04BAM6) to the head of the bolt (9), the washer (12) and the nut (16).

B. Installation of the Flap Attachment Bearing
(1) For Track 3, do the steps that follow:
(a) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the external surface of the new AIPC 57-53-23-15-300 BEARING (4) and the flap structure (5).
(b) Make sure that the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) does not touch the internal surfaces of the spherical bearing (4).
(c) Install the spherical bearing (4) in the flap structure (5).
(d) Apply Dry lubricant-Anti Seizing PTFE Loaded - (Material No.03QDB1) to the thread of the new AIPC 57-53-23-15-310 LOCKNUT (6) and the mating surfaces of the locknut (6) and the new AIPC 57-53-23-15-320 WASHER (7).
(e) Loosely install the lockwasher (7) and the locknut (6).
(f) Put the locking device (3) in position on the spherical bearing (4). If necessary, adjust the position of the spherical bearing (4) so that the locking device (3) engages correctly.
(g) Install the new AIPC 57-53-23-15-290 LOCK (2) on the screw (1).
(h) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the threads of the screw (1).
(i) Install the screw (1).
(j) TORQUE the screw (1) to between 1.8 and 1.6 m.daN (13.27 and 11.80 lbf.ft )
.
(k) Use the 98D57004050000 SPANNER FLAP TRACK 2 AND 3 BEARING to TORQUE the locknut (6) to between 12.0 and 10.0 m.daN (88.50 and 73.75 lbf.ft )
.
(l) Safety the locknut (6) with the lockwasher (7).
(m) Do a no-load Breakaway Torque of the spherical bearing (4) to 0.75 m.daN (66.37 lbf.in) maximum.
(n) Apply a bead of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet - (Material No.06ABB1) around the locknut (6).
(o) Apply Coating_- Flexible Structure (Material No.04QAB2) to the bead seal around the locknut (6).
(p) Apply red Top Coat Polyurethane-- Decorative External Structure (Material No.04JMD3) , as shown, to the spherical bearing (4).
(2) For Track 4, do the steps that follow:
(a) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the external surface of the new AIPC 57-53-23-16-170 SPHERICAL BEARING (11) and the flap structure (8).
(b) Make sure that the Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) does not touch the internal surfaces of the spherical bearing (11).
(c) Install the spherical bearing (11) in the flap structure (8).
(d) Apply Dry lubricant-Anti Seizing PTFE Loaded - (Material No.03QDB1) to the thread of the new AIPC 57-53-23-16-180 LOCKNUT (9) and the mating surfaces of the locknut (9) and the new AIPC 57-53-23-16-190 LOCKWASHER (10).
(e) Loosely install the lockwasher (10) and the locknut (9).
(f) Put the locking device (12) in position on the spherical bearing (11). If necessary, adjust the position of the spherical bearing (4) so that the locking device (12) engages correctly.
(g) Install the new AIPC 57-53-23-16-150 TAB-WASHER (14) on the screw (13).
(h) Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the threads of the screw (13).
(i) Install the screw (13).
(j) TORQUE the screw (13) to between 1.8 and 1.6 m.daN (13.27 and 11.80 lbf.ft )

(d) Apply Dry lubricant-Anti Seizing PTFE Loaded - (Material No.03QDB1) to the thread of the new AIPC 57-53-23-16-180 LOCKNUT (9) and the mating surfaces of the locknut (9) and the new AIPC 57-53-23-16-190 LOCKWASHER (10).
(e) Loosely install the lockwasher (10) and the locknut (9).
(f) Put the locking device (12) in position on the spherical bearing (11). If necessary, adjust the position of the spherical bearing (4) so that the locking device (12) engages correctly.
