(1) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the flap/slat control lever (panel 114VU) to tell persons not to operate the flaps.
(2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

(1) Extend the flaps fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
(2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever on the panel 114VU.

(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the flap track 4 at zone 533(633).
(2) Remove the applicable flap track fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-004):

for the left wing, remove 533AT 533CB
for the right wing, remove 633AT 633CB.

(3) Remove the applicable access panel from the bottom skin at track 4:

for the left wing, remove 587BB
for the right wing, remove 687BB.

(4) Put the LIGHT SOURCE - SPARK-PROOF adjacent to the inspection area.

E. Preparation for Inspection

CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:

DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

(1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do the inspection of the area.
(2) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the pendulum support, drive bracket, attachment structure and internal support fitting.
(3) Make sure that there is no TPS layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-53-00-210-073-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Detailed Visual Inspection of Outboard Double Slotted Flap, Internal Support Fitting at Track 4, Including Pendulum Support, Drive Bracket and Attachment Structure, Internal and External, LH/RH
(1) Do an inspection of the pendulum support, drive bracket and the attachment structure. Make sure that:

there is no damage
there is no corrosion
there are no cracks or scores
the internal support fitting, pendulum support and drive bracket are installed correctly
the surface protection is in the correct condition.

(2) Do an inspection of the internal support fitting, where it can be seen. Make sure that:

there is no damage
there is no corrosion
there are no cracks or scores
the surface protection is in the correct condition.

NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 575300 for the correct repair procedure.

5. Close-up

A. Close Access
(1) Remove the spark-proof lamp from the inspection area.
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) Install the applicable access panel in the bottom skin at track 4:

for the left wing, install 587BB
for the right wing, install 687BB.

(4) Install the applicable flap track fairing (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-400-004):

for the left wing, install 533AT 533CB
for the right wing, install 633AT 633CB.
