CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TEMPORARY PROTECTION SYSTEM (TPS) ON THE INSPECTION AREA. IF YOU APPLY TPS ON THE INSPECTION AREA, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Fully extend the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
   (2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is on the slat/flap control lever.

   (2) Remove the applicable access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-000-001):
   (3) Remove the outboard flap leading edge panel 5 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-62-000-003).

E. Preparation for Inspection
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do the inspection of the area.
   (2) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the external surfaces of:
  • the outboard flap upper and lower skins
  • the attachment fitting.
   (3) Make sure that there is no TPS layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 57-53-00-210-067-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Detailed Inspection of Outboard Flap, Support at Track 4, including RIB14, Fitting Assembly, Pendulum Support and Attachment Structure Internal and External, LH/RH
   (1) Make a detailed inspection of:
  • the external parts of the pendulum support that you can see
  • the lower skin around the pendulum support. Make sure the inner and outer doubler is fully inspected.
Make sure that:
  • there is no corrosion
  • there are no cracks
  • the surface protection is in the correct condition.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 575321 for the correct repair procedure.
