(1) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Fully extend the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
(2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever.
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable wing at the inboard flap, zone 581(681).

4. Procedure

CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:

DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Preparation for Inspection
(1) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the:

end rib
roller
interconnecting strut attachment bracket.

B. Detailed Inspection of Inboard Flap, End Rib including Roller and Interconnection Strut Attachment Bracket LH/RH
(1) Examine the end rib and the interconnection strut attachment bracket on the inboard flap. Make sure that:

there is no damage
there are no loose or damaged fasteners
the protective finish is in the correct condition.

(2) Examine the roller to make sure that:

there is no corrosion
there are no cracks
the roller is correctly attached
the roller is symmetrical
there is no distortion of the roller or the attachment pivot bolt
the protective finish of the roller is correct
there is not too much play of the roller.
End Rib - Inboard Flap ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

NOTE: If the AXIAL PLAY "X" or the RADIAL PLAY "Y" is more than 0.25 mm (0.0098 in.), do a check of the liner for damage and wear.

NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 575100 for the correct repair procedure.

(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the kink-seals (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-61-400-006).
