Removal of the Overwing Panel


WARNING: PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:

MOVEMENT OF COMPONENTS CAN KILL OR CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or the slats.

B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) below the applicable zone 571(671).
   (2) Remove the shroud box (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-15-000-001).
4. Procedure

A. Removal of the Overwing Panel

   (1) Remove the nuts (31), the bolts (29) and disconnect the electrical bonding leads (30).
   (2) Remove the nuts (25), the washers (24) and the bushings (23).
   (3) Remove the washers (22) and the bolts (21).
   (4) Disconnect the link assembly (15) from the overwing panel (1):
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pins (10) from the nuts (11).
     (b) Remove the nuts (11) and the washers (12).
     (c) Remove the bushings (13) and the bolts (14).
   (5) Remove the nuts (16) and the washers (17).
   (6) Remove the bushings (19) and the bolts (20).
   (7) Disconnect the rods (4) from the overwing panel (1):
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pins (5) from the nuts (6).
     (b) Remove the nuts (6) and the bushings (7).
     (c) Remove the washers (8) and the bolts (9).
   (8) Remove the screws (28) from the joint strip (27).
   (9) Remove the nut strip (26).
   (10) Remove the overwing panel (1).

   (1) Remove the nuts (5) and the bolts (7).
   (2) Disconnect the electrical bonding leads (6).
   (3) Remove and discard the cotter pins (32) from the nuts (31).
   (4) Remove the washers (33) and the bushings (30).
   (5) Remove the bolts (29) and the washers (28).
   (6) Disconnect the link assembly (9) from the overwing panel (1):
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pins (10) from the nuts (11).
     (b) Remove the nuts (11) and the washers (12).
     (c) Remove the bolts (8) and the bushings (13).
   (7) Remove and discard the cotter pin (16) from the nut (17).
   (8) Remove the nut (17) and the washer (18).
   (9) Remove the bolt (14) and the bushing (15).
   (10) Disconnect the rods (24) from the overwing panel (1):
     (a) Remove and discard the cotter pins (25) from the nuts (26).
     (b) Remove the nuts (26) and the bushings (27).
     (c) Remove the bolts (20) and the washers (21).
   (11) Remove the screws (3) from the joint strip (2).
   (12) Remove the nut strip (4).
   (13) Remove the overwing panel (1).
