WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

3. Job Set-up
NOTE: During this procedure, you will remove the two inner hinge pins only for each spoiler. It is not necessary to remove the outer hinge pins.

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
   (2) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (3) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) below the applicable wing trailing edge, zone 573(673).
   (2) Remove the applicable access panels:
     (a) For the left wing, remove:
     (b) For the right wing, remove:

CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

   (1) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the two inner hinge pins.

C. Detailed Inspection of Outer Wing, Trailing Edge, Spoilers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Hinge Pins
   (1) Examine the two inner hinge pins for:
  • damage
  • scratches and/or scores
  • correct condition of the protective finish.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 575100 for the correct repair procedure.

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the safety barriers.
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
