WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Extend the slats fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-004).
(2) Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION on the flap/slat control lever.

D. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable wing leading edge at slat 3, zone 522(622).

E. Preparation for Inspection
(1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do the inspection of the area.
(2) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the inspection area of slat track 7 shown.
(3) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the inspection area of slat track 8 shown.
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do the inspection of the area.
(2) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the inspection area of slat track 7 shown.
(3) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the inspection area of slat track 8 shown.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 574000 for the correct repair procedure.
(4) Make sure that there is no TPS layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001). Subtask 57-44-00-210-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Detailed Inspection of Slat 3, Tracks 7 and 8 Attachments, including Track Rib Lugs, Track Lugs, Bolts, Links and Side Plates, LH/RH
(1) Examine the slat 3, tracks 7 and 8 attachment links, side plates, track rib lugs and track lugs. Make sure that:
(b) Examine the attachment bolt. Make sure that:
(d) Do steps (a) thru (c) for each attachment bolt on the slat tracks 7 and 8 attachment links and side plates.
Subtask 57-44-00-210-055-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Examine the slat 3, tracks 7 and 8 attachment links, side plates, track rib lugs and track lugs. Make sure that:
- there is no corrosion, cracks or damage
- the sealant is in a serviceable condition.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 574000 for the correct repair procedure.
(2) Examine each slat attachment bolt on slat tracks 7 or 8 as follows: NOTE: Remove one of the attachment bolts, examine it and install it correctly before removing a different bolt for inspection. Do not remove more than one attachment bolt at any time.
(a) Remove one of the slat attachment bolts on slat tracks 7 or 8 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-65-000-001). (b) Examine the attachment bolt. Make sure that:
- there is no corrosion or damage
- the shank of the bolt is not worn
- the bolt hole is not worn or damaged.
NOTE: If necessary, discard the worn/damaged bolt and install a replacement item.
(c) Install the slat attachment bolt (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-65-400-002). (d) Do steps (a) thru (c) for each attachment bolt on the slat tracks 7 and 8 attachment links and side plates.

(1) Do an inspection of the slat track 7 and 8 attachments in the areas shown.
(2) Make sure that there is no corrosion, cracks or damage and that the sealant is in a seviceable condition.
5. Close-up(1) Do an inspection of the slat track 7 and 8 attachments in the areas shown.

(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
