A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Fully extend the slats (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-004).
   (2) Make sure the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is on the flap/slat control lever.
   (3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE below the applicable wing leading edge at slat 1, zone 521(621).

D. Preparation for Inspection
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do the inspection of the area.
   (2) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the area. Clean the slat 1 skin connection in the area of the lower girder at track ribs 1 thru 4.
   (3) Make sure that there is no TPS layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 57-42-00-280-050-A
A. Inspection
   (1) Do a special detailed inspection of the slat 1 skin connections in the area of the lower girder (ribs 1 thru 4) NTM 574204.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the ASRM SRM 574000 for the correct repair procedure. If the defect is not included in this repair, you must request a procedure from AIRBUS.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the flap/slat control lever.
   (4) Fully retract the slats (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).

C. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) Remove the safety barriers.
   (3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
