A. Safety Precautions
(1) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Fully extend the slats (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-004).
(2) Make sure the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever.
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the applicable wing leading edge at slat 1, zone 521 (621).
Subtask 57-42-00-865-050-A (1) Fully extend the slats (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-004).
(2) Make sure the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever.
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the applicable wing leading edge at slat 1, zone 521 (621).

D. Preparation for Inspection
(1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do the inspection of the area.
(2) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the slat track 1 to 4 attachment link area.
(3) Make sure that there is no TPS layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do the inspection of the area.
(2) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the slat track 1 to 4 attachment link area.
(3) Make sure that there is no TPS layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
Subtask 57-42-00-210-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspection
(1) Examine the slat tracks 1 to 4 attachment links, side plates, track rib lugs and track lugs. Make sure that:
(b) Examine the attachment bolt. Make sure that:
(d) Do step (a) thru (c) for each attachment bolt on the slat tracks 1 to 4.
Subtask 57-42-00-210-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Examine the slat tracks 1 to 4 attachment links, side plates, track rib lugs and track lugs. Make sure that:
- there is no corrosion, cracks or damage.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the ASRM SRM 574000 for the correct repair procedure.
(2) Examine each slat attachment bolt as follows: NOTE: Remove one of the attachment bolts, examine it and install it correctly before removing a different bolt for inspection. Do not remove more than one attachment bolt at any time.
(a) Remove one of the slat attachment bolts (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-63-000-001). (b) Examine the attachment bolt. Make sure that:
- there is no corrosion or damage
- the shank of the bolt is not worn
- the bolt hole is not worn.
NOTE: If necessary, discard the worn/damaged bolt and install a replacement item.
(c) Install the slat attachment bolt (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-63-400-002). (d) Do step (a) thru (c) for each attachment bolt on the slat tracks 1 to 4.
A. Inspection
(1) Examine the slat tracks 1 to 4 attachment links, side plates, nuts and bolts. Make sure that:

- there is no corrosion, cracks or damage
- all the nuts are tight and safetied.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the ASRM SRM 574000 for the correct repair procedure.

(3) Fully retract the slats (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).
