- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
(2) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(3) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
Subtask 57-41-33-010-050-A (1) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
(2) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(3) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
B. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) below the applicable wing inboard and outboard leading edge, zones 521 (621) or 522 (622).
(2) Remove the applicable slats:
Subtask 57-41-33-865-050-A (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) below the applicable wing inboard and outboard leading edge, zones 521 (621) or 522 (622).
(2) Remove the applicable slats:
- for the rollers at slat tracks 1, 2, 3 and/or 4, remove the slat No. 1 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-63-000-001)
- for the rollers at slat tracks 5 and/or 6, remove the slat No. 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-64-000-001)
- for the rollers at slat tracks 7 and/or 8, remove the slat No. 3 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-65-000-001)
- for the rollers at slat tracks 9 and/or 10, remove the slat No. 4 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-66-000-001)
- for the rollers at slat tracks 11 and/or 12, remove the slat No. 5 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-67-000-001).
- for slat tracks 1 thru 4 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-61-000-001)
- for slat tracks 5 thru 12 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-62-000-001).

A. Removal of the Slat-Track Vertical-Load Rollers
(1) For track 1:
(a) Remove the top vertical-load rollers (3) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nuts (4) from the pins (1).
4 Hold the top vertical-load rollers (3) and remove the pins (1).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load rollers (3) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greasers (2) from the pins (1).
(b) Remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:
2 Remove the nuts (48) and the washers (35) from the pins (34).
3 Hold the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) and remove the pins (34).
4 Carefully remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) from the structure.
5 If necessary, remove the greasers (33) from the pins (34).
(2) For Track 2:
(a) Remove the top vertical-load rollers (3) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nuts (4) from the pins (1).
4 Hold the top vertical-load rollers (3) and remove the pins (1).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load rollers (3) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greasers (2) from the pins (1).
(b) Remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:
2 Remove the nuts (48) and (62) and the washers (35) from the pins (34).
3 Hold the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) and remove the pins (34).
4 Carefully remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) from the structure.
5 If necessary, remove the greasers (33) from the pins (34).
(3) For Track 3:
(a) Remove the top vertical-load rollers (3) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nuts (4) from the pins (1).
4 Hold the top vertical-load rollers (3) and remove the pins (1).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load rollers (3) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greasers (2) from the pins (1).
(b) Remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:
2 Remove the nuts (48) and (63) and the washers (35) from the pins (34).
3 Hold the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) and remove the pins (34).
4 Carefully remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) from the structure.
5 If necessary, remove the greasers (33) from the pins (49).
(4) For Track 4:
(a) Remove the top vertical-load roller (3) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pin:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nut (4) from the pin (1).
4 Hold the top vertical-load roller (3) and remove the pin (1).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load roller (3) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greaser (2) from the pin (1).
(b) Remove the top vertical-load roller (22) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pin:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nut (23) from the pin (20).
4 Hold the top vertical-load roller (22) and remove the pin (20).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load roller (22) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greaser (21) from the pin (20).
(c) Remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:
2 Remove the nuts (48) and the washers (35) from the pins (34).
3 Hold the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) and remove the pins (34).
4 Carefully remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) from the structure.
5 If necessary, remove the greasers (33) from the pins (34).
(5) For Track 5:
(a) Remove the top vertical-load roller (3) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pin:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nut (4) from the pin (1).
4 Hold the top vertical-load roller (3) and remove the pin (1).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load roller (3) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greaser (2) from the pin (1).
(b) Remove the top vertical-load roller (22) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pin:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nut (23) from the pin (20).
4 Hold the top vertical-load roller (22) and remove the pin (20).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load roller (22) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greaser (21) from the pin (20).
(c) Remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:
2 Remove the nuts (48) and (64) and the washers (35) from the pins (34).
3 Hold the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) and remove the pins (34).
4 Carefully remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) from the structure.
5 If necessary, remove the greasers (33) from the pins (34).
(6) For Track 6:
(a) Remove the top vertical-load roller (3) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pin:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nut (4) from the pin (1).
4 Hold the top vertical-load roller (3) and remove the pin (1).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load roller (3) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greaser (2) from the pin (1).
(b) Remove the top vertical-load roller (22) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pin:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nut (23) from the pin (20).
4 Hold the top vertical-load roller (22) and remove the pin (20).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load roller (22) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greaser (21) from the pin (20).
(c) Remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:
2 Remove the nuts (48) and the washers (35) from the pins (34).
3 Hold the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) and remove the pins (34).
4 Carefully remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) from the structure.
5 If necessary, remove the greasers (33) from the pins (34).
(7) For Track 7:
(a) Remove the top vertical-load roller (3) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pin:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nut (4) from the pin (1).
4 Hold the top vertical-load roller (3) and remove the pin (1).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load roller (3) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greaser (2) from the pin (1).
(b) Remove the top vertical-load roller (22) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pin:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nut (23) from the pin (20).
4 Hold the top vertical-load roller (22) and remove the pin (20).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load roller (22) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greaser (21) from the pin (20).
(c) Remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:
2 Remove the nuts (48) and the washers (35) from the pins (34).
3 Hold the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) and remove the pins (34).
4 Carefully remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) from the structure.
5 If necessary, remove the greasers (33) from the pins (34).
(8) For Track 8:
(a) Remove the top vertical-load roller (3) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pin:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nut (4) from the pin (1).
4 Hold the top vertical-load roller (3) and remove the pin (1).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load roller (3) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greaser (2) from the pin (1).
(b) Remove the top vertical-load roller (22) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pin:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nut (23) from the pin (20).
4 Hold the top vertical-load roller (22) and remove the pin (20).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load roller (22) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greaser (21) from the pin (20).
(c) Remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:
2 Remove the nuts (48) and the washers (35) from the pins (34).
3 Hold the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) and remove the pins (34).
4 Carefully remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) from the structure.
5 If necessary, remove the greasers (33) from the pins (34).
(9) For Track 9:
(a) Remove the top vertical-load roller (3) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pin:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nut (4) from the pin (1).
4 Hold the top vertical-load roller (3) and remove the pin (1).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load roller (3) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greaser (2) from the pin (1).
(b) Remove the top vertical-load roller (22) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pin:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nut (23) from the pin (20).
4 Hold the top vertical-load roller (22) and remove the pin (20).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load roller (22) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greaser (21) from the pin (20).
(c) Remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:
2 Remove the nuts (48) and the washers (35) from the pins (34).
3 Hold the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) and remove the pins (34).
4 Carefully remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) from the structure.
5 If necessary, remove the greasers (33) from the pins (34).
(10) For Track 10:
(a) Remove the top vertical-load roller (3) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pin:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nut (4) from the pin (1).
4 Hold the top vertical-load roller (3) and remove the pin (1).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load roller (3) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greaser (2) from the pin (1).
(b) Remove the top vertical-load roller (22) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pin:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nut (23) from the pin (20).
4 Hold the top vertical-load roller (22) and remove the pin (20).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load roller (22) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greaser (21) from the pin (20).
(c) Remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:
2 Remove the nuts (48) and the washers (35) from the pins (34).
3 Hold the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) and remove the pins (34).
4 Carefully remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) from the structure.
5 If necessary, remove the greasers (33) from the pins (34).
(11) For Track 11:
(a) Remove the top vertical-load roller (3) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pin:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nut (4) from the pin (1).
4 Hold the top vertical-load roller (3) and remove the pin (1).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load roller (3) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greaser (2) from the pin (1).
(b) Remove the top vertical-load roller (22) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pin:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nut (23) from the pin (20).
4 Hold the top vertical-load roller (22) and remove the pin (20).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load roller (22) from the eccentric bushes.

(c) Remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:
2 Remove the nuts (48) and the washers (35) from the pins (34).
3 Hold the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) and remove the pins (34).
4 Carefully remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) from the structure.
5 If necessary, remove the greasers (33) from the pins (34).
(12) For Track 12:
(a) Remove the top vertical-load roller (3) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pin:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nut (4) from the pin (1).
4 Hold the top vertical-load roller (3) and remove the pin (1).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load roller (3) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greaser (2) from the pin (1).
(b) Remove the top vertical-load roller (22) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pin:
2 Removal of the lockwire:
3 Remove the nut (23) from the pin (20).
4 Hold the top vertical-load roller (22) and remove the pin (20).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load roller (22) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greaser (21) from the pin (20).
(c) Remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:

3 Hold the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) and remove the pins (34).
4 Carefully remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) from the structure.
5 If necessary, remove the greasers (33) from the pins (34).

(a) Remove the top vertical-load rollers (3) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:

USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
a Remove and discard the cotter pins (5) and (6). 2 Removal of the lockwire:
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
a Remove and discard the lockwire from the pins (1). 3 Remove the nuts (4) from the pins (1).
4 Hold the top vertical-load rollers (3) and remove the pins (1).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load rollers (3) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greasers (2) from the pins (1).
(b) Remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
a Remove and discard the cotter pins (36) and (50). 2 Remove the nuts (48) and the washers (35) from the pins (34).
3 Hold the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) and remove the pins (34).
4 Carefully remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) from the structure.
5 If necessary, remove the greasers (33) from the pins (34).
(2) For Track 2:
(a) Remove the top vertical-load rollers (3) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
a Remove and discard the cotter pins (7) and (8). 2 Removal of the lockwire:

a Remove and discard the lockwire from the pins (1). 3 Remove the nuts (4) from the pins (1).
4 Hold the top vertical-load rollers (3) and remove the pins (1).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load rollers (3) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greasers (2) from the pins (1).
(b) Remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
a Remove and discard the cotter pins (37) and (51). 2 Remove the nuts (48) and (62) and the washers (35) from the pins (34).
3 Hold the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) and remove the pins (34).
4 Carefully remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) from the structure.
5 If necessary, remove the greasers (33) from the pins (34).
(3) For Track 3:
(a) Remove the top vertical-load rollers (3) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
a Remove and discard the cotter pins (9) and (10). 2 Removal of the lockwire:

a Remove and discard the lockwire from the pins (1). 3 Remove the nuts (4) from the pins (1).
4 Hold the top vertical-load rollers (3) and remove the pins (1).
5 Carefully remove the top vertical-load rollers (3) from the eccentric bushes.
6 Do not remove the eccentric bushes.
7 If necessary, remove the greasers (2) from the pins (1).
(b) Remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pins:
WARNING:

a Remove and discard the cotter pins (38) and (52). 2 Remove the nuts (48) and (63) and the washers (35) from the pins (34).
3 Hold the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) and remove the pins (34).
4 Carefully remove the bottom vertical-load rollers (49) from the structure.
5 If necessary, remove the greasers (33) from the pins (49).
(4) For Track 4:
(a) Remove the top vertical-load roller (3) as follows:
1 Removal of the cotter pin:
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.

7 If necessary, remove the greaser (2) from the pin (1).
