A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (4) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the applicable wing-tip:
  • for the left wing, below zone 534
  • for the right wing, below zone 634.

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-31-00-110-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for Deactivation
   (1) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the area around the damage.

B. Deactivation of the Wing-tip Fence
   (1) Examine the wing tip and the wing-tip fence.
   (2) If the damage extends to the wing-tip, replace the wing-tip (Ref. AMM TASK 57-31-21-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-31-21-400-001) and the wing-tip fence (Ref. AMM TASK 57-31-22-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 57-31-22-400-001).
   (3) If the damage is confined to the maximum area, do the steps that follow:

     (a) If necessary, remove sharp and/or badly damaged contours on the edges of the wing-tip fence SRM 573122.
NOTE: Damage to the structure that attaches the wing-tip fence to the wing-tip is not permitted.
Damage to the cast nose piece is not permitted.
     (b) Apply a layer of Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) to temporarily repair the wing tip fence.
   (4) If the damage is more than the maximum area, do the steps that follow:

     (a) Remove the wing-tip fence (Ref. AMM TASK 57-31-22-000-001).
     (b) Apply a layer of Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) to cover the aircraft internal structure.
   (5) Put a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons that:
  • the wing-tip fence has been deactivated
  • the aircraft performance is decreased to the limits given in the CDL.
   (6) Write down in the aircraft log that the wing-tip fence has been deactivated.

B. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the safety barriers.
   (4) Remove the warning notices from the cockpit that tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (5) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
   (6) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
