Operational Check of Drain Holes and Hoses for Clogging

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 57-29-00-941-052-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
   (3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (4) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable drain-holes in the access panels and the bottom skin of the wing, zones 521(621) and 522(622).
4. Procedure
Subtask 57-29-00-210-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspection of the Drain Holes and Hoses
   (1) Examine the outer wing drain holes and make sure that they are not blocked.
     (a) If a hole is blocked, remove the applicable access panel.
     (b) Remove all unwanted material from around the hole. Use a PROBE DIA LESS THAN 5 MM(0.197IN)NON METALLIC FLEXIBLE to remove the blockage from the hole.
   (2) Examine the drain hole(s) in the dry bay(s) and make sure that they are not blocked.
     (a) If a hole is blocked, remove all unwanted material from around the hole. Use a 5 mm (0.2 in.) dia. non-metallic probe to remove the blockage from the hole.
   (3) To examine the drain holes of the slat-track cans, do the steps that follow:
     (a) Put the end of a 9.5 mm (0.374 in.) dia. soft rubber tube into each drain hose.
     (b) Use a GROUND AIR-SUPPLY UNIT(LOW PRESSURE) to blow through the tube.
     (c) If the hose is not clear, remove all unwanted material.
   (4) Find the cause of the blockage.
   (5) If you removed an access panel, install it.

A. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) Remove the safety barriers.
   (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
