A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
   (1) Obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001) when you do work in the fuel tanks.
   (2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate:
  • the flap/slat system
  • the fuel system.
   (3) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
   (4) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Make sure that the slats are in the fully extended position (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-004).

C. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) is in position below the access panel adjacent to the applicable slat-track, zone 540 (640).
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the applicable slat-track, at the leading edge, zones 521 (621) and 522 (622).
   (3) If necessary, make sure that the applicable slats are removed:
   (4) If necessary, make sure that the applicable slat tracks are removed:
   (5) For the slat-track cans 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6, make sure that the applicable access panel is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002):
   (6) For the slat-track cans 7 thru 12, make sure that the applicable access panel is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-46-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002):

C. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) is in position below the access panel adjacent to the applicable slat-track, zone 540 (640).
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the applicable slat-track, at the leading edge, zones 521 (621) and 522 (622).
   (3) If necessary, make sure that the applicable slats are removed:

   (6) For slat-track cans 7 thru 12, make sure that the applicable access panel is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002):

C. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) is in position below the access panel adjacent to the applicable slat-track, zone 540 (640).
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the applicable slat-track, at the leading edge, zones 521 (621) and 522 (622).
   (3) If necessary, make sure that the applicable slats are removed:

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-24-11-420-061-A
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Use a SPATULA - PLASTIC to remove the sealant from the component interfaces.
   (2) Clean the component interfaces and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9)
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.

B. Installation of the Slat-track Cans 1 thru 3
   (1) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to the seal faces of the slat-track can (1), the front spar and the bolts (3).
   (2) Install the applicable slat-track can (1) with the bolts (3). Make sure that you install the bolts (3) in the same positions from which you removed them.
   (3) Tighten the bolts (3).
   (4) Connect and tighten the drain pipe (2) to the slat-track can (1).
Subtask 57-24-11-420-055-D ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of the Slat-track Cans 1 thru 4
   (1) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to the seal faces of the slat-track can (1), the front spar and the bolts (3).
   (2) Install the applicable slat-track can (1) with the bolts (3). Make sure that you install the bolts (3) in the same positions from which you removed them.
   (3) Tighten the bolts (3).
   (4) Connect and tighten the drain pipe (2) to the slat-track can (1).

C. Installation of Slat-track Cans 5 and 6
   (1) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to the seal faces of the slat-track can (16), the front spar and the bolts (18).
   (2) If you replace slat-track can 5 or 6, do these steps:
NOTE: It is not necessary to install the bracket assembly on the new slat-track can.
     (a) Install the new slat-track can (16) with the bolts (18). Make sure that you install the bolts (18) in the same positions from which you removed them.
     (b) Tighten the bolts (18).
   (3) If you install the removed slat-track can 5, do these steps:
     (a) Put the bracket assembly (20) in position on the slat-track can (22).
     (b) Install the bolts (27) and the nuts (21).
     (c) Install the bolts (25) and the nuts (24).
     (d) Tighten the nuts (21) and (24).

   (4) If you install the removed slat-track can 6, do these steps:
     (a) Put the bracket assembly (36) in position on the slat-track can (33).
     (b) Install the bolts (37) and the nuts (30).
     (c) Install the bolts (35) and the nuts (31).
     (d) Tighten the nuts (30) and (31).
   (5) Connect and tighten the drain pipe (17) to the slat-track can (16).

D. Installation of Slat-track Cans 7 and 8
   (1) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to the seal faces of the slat-track can (31), the front spar and the bolts (33).
   (2) If you replace the slat-track can 7 or 8, do these steps:
NOTE: It is not necessary to install the bracket assembly on the new slat-track can.
     (a) Install the new slat-track can (31) with the bolts (33). Make sure that you install the bolts (33) in the same positions from which you removed them.
     (b) Tighten the bolts (33).
   (3) To install the removed slat-track can (7), do these steps :
     (a) Put the bracket assembly (51) in position on the slat-track can (54).
     (b) Install the bolts (57) and the nuts (50).
     (c) Install the bolts (56) and the nuts (52).
     (d) Tighten the nuts (50) and (52).
   (4) To install the removed slat-track can (8), do these steps :
     (a) Put the bracket assembly (62) in position on the slat-track can (65).
     (b) Install the bolts (68) and the nuts (61).
     (c) Install the bolts (67) and the nuts (63).
     (d) Tighten the nuts (61) and (63).
   (5) Connect and tighten the drain pipe (32) to the slat-track can (31).

E. Installation of Slat-track Cans 9 and 10
   (1) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to the seal faces of the slat-track can (46), the front spar and the bolts (48).
   (2) If you replace the slat-track can 9 or 10, do these steps:
NOTE: It is not necessary to install the bracket assembly on the new slat-track can.
     (a) Install the new slat-track can (46) with the bolts (48). Make sure that you install the bolts (48) in the same positions from which you removed them.
     (b) Tighten the bolts (48).
   (3) To install the removed slat-track can 9, do these steps:
     (a) Put the bracket assembly (82) in position on the slat-track can (85).
     (b) Install the bolts (88) and the nuts (81).
     (c) Install the bolts (87) and the nuts (83).
     (d) Tighten the nuts (81) and (83).
   (4) To install the removed slat-track can 10, do these steps:
     (a) Put the bracket assembly (95) in position on the slat-track can (92).
     (b) Install the bolts (90) and the nuts (91).
     (c) Install the bolts (96) and the nuts (94).
     (d) Install the bolts (97).
     (e) Tighten the nuts (91) and (94).
   (5) Connect the drain pipe (47) to the slat-track can (46).

F. Installation of Slat-track Cans 11 and 12
   (1) For the slat-track can 11, apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to the seal faces of the slat-track can (60), the front spar and the bolts (62).
   (2) If you replace the slat-track can 11, do these steps:
NOTE: It is not necessary to install the bracket assembly on the new slat-track can.
     (a) install the slat-track can (60) with the bolts (62). Make sure that you install the bolts (62) in the same position from which you removed them.
     (b) tighten the bolts (62).
   (3) To install the removed slat-track can 11, do these steps:
     (a) Put the bracket assembly (111) in position on the slat-track can (114).
     (b) Install the bolts (117) and the nuts (110).
     (c) Install the bolts (116) and the nuts (112).
     (d) Tighten the nuts (110) and (112).
   (4) Connect and tighten the drain pipe (61) to the slat-track can (60).

   (5) For the slat-track can 12, apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to the seal faces of the slat-track can (70) and the bolts (72).
   (6) If you replace the slat-track can 12, do these steps:
NOTE: It is not necessary to install the bracket assembly on the new slat-track can.
     (a) Install the slat-track can (70) with the bolts (72). Make sure that you install the bolts (72) in the same positions from which you removed them.
     (b) Tighten the bolts (72).
   (7) To install the removed slat-track can 12, do these steps:
     (a) Put the bracket assembly (122) in position on the slat-track can (124).
     (b) Install the bolts (120) and the nuts (121).
     (c) Install the bolts (127) and the nuts (123).
     (d) Tighten the nuts (121) and (123).
   (8) Connect and tighten the drain pipe (71) to the slat-track can (70).

G. Preparation for Test
   (1) If removed, install the applicable fuel pipes (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-400-001).
   (2) If removed, install the applicable slats:
   (3) If removed, install the applicable slat tracks:
   (4) Install the removed access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-46-400-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002).
   (5) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (6) Refuel the wing tanks to the low level cut-off condition (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003).

   (1) Remove the applicable leading edge access panels.
   (2) Examine the slat-track cans and the front spar for leaks (Ref. AMM TASK 28-11-00-790-002).

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Install the applicable leading-edge access panels.
   (2) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the slat/flap control lever.
   (3) Fully retract the slats (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).
   (4) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).

C. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
