A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
   (1) Obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001) when you do work in the fuel tanks.
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flap/slat system or the fuel system.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Fully extend the slats (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-004).
   (2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever.

C. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the applicable slat-track and the adjacent access panel, zone 540(640).
   (2) If necessary, remove the applicable slats:
   (3) If necessary, remove the applicable slat tracks:
   (4) Remove the applicable access panel:
     (a) For the slat-track cans 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6, (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-46-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002):
  • For the slat-track cans 1 and 2, remove 540AB ( 640AB)
  • For the slat-track can 3, remove 540BB ( 640BB)
  • For the slat-track can 5, remove 540DB ( 640DB)
  • For the slat-track can 6, remove 540FB ( 640FB).
     (b) For the slat-track cans 7 thru 12, (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002):
   (5) If necessary, remove the applicable fuel pipes (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-000-001).

C. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the applicable slat-track and the adjacent access panel, zone 540(640).
   (2) If necessary, remove the applicable slats
   (3) If necessary, remove the applicable slat tracks:
   (4) Remove the applicable access panel:
     (a) For the slat-track cans 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6, (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002):
  • For the slat-track cans 1 and 2, remove 540AB ( 640AB)
  • For the slat-track can 3, remove 540BB ( 640BB)
  • For the slat-track can 5, remove 540DB ( 640DB)
  • For the slat-track can 6, remove 540FB ( 640FB).
     (b) For the slat-track cans 7 thru 12, (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002):
   (5) If necessary, remove the applicable fuel pipes (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-000-001).

C. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the applicable slat-track and the adjacent access panel, zone 540(640).
   (2) If necessary, remove the applicable slats:

   (4) Remove the applicable access panel:
     (a) For the slat-track cans 1 thru 6, (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 28-12-46-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002):
  • For the slat-track cans 1 and 2, remove 540AB ( 640AB)
  • For the slat-track cans 3 and 4, remove 540BB ( 640BB)
  • For the slat-track can 5, remove 540DB ( 640DB)
  • For the slat-track can 6, remove 540FB ( 640FB).
     (b) For the slat-track cans 7 thru 12, (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-002) and (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-002):
   (5) If necessary, remove the applicable fuel pipes (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-000-001).
4. Procedure

A. Removal of the Slat-track Cans 1 thru 3
F Location of the Slat-track Cans 1 thru 12 ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

   (1) Disconnect the drain pipe (2) from the slat-track can (1).
   (2) Remove the bolts (3) and carefully remove the slat-track can (1).
NOTE: You must keep the bolts (3) in their related positions.

  • disconnect the drain pipe (71) from the slat-track can (70).
  • remove the bolts (72)
  • carefully remove the slat-track can (70).
